General Question

Can anyone recommend a source for determining over the air TV signal strength in my neighborhood?

Asked by canidmajor (21581points) October 24th, 2017

Are there websites that will determine such things? All of my neighbors either have cable or streaming or both, no one seems to be doing anything over the air these days.

Thanks

@ARE_you_kidding_me beat me to it. Also you can check the TV stations website for a reception map.

Thanks, guys! I appreciate your patience and help. This looks to be just the ticket, and I’ll look up the station’s site as well.

Another option for the US is Antennaweb.org .

They give a better map than the FCC tool, showing directions to the transmitters without having to click one-by-one.

Like @Call_Me_Jay , I use AntennaWeb .

Thanks again for the advice guys, but unfortunately, thanks to the freeway and the new noise-lessening wall in my neighborhood, no antenna is going to work here for any of the over the air stations I want. Ah well, so it goes. :-(

@canidmajor You can get one of the newer flat antennas (Mohu Leaf) with an amplifier for about $50. Give it a try before you give up.
If it does not work in your application pass it on to someone else.

Thanks, @LuckyGuy, but that was the exact one I tried, no Joy. :-(
That’s OK, more and more stations are starting to look into streaming, I’ll get there eventually!
