Could Trumps travel to South Korea spell disaster for the U.S.?

Asked by Pandora (32398points) October 25th, 2017

So I was wondering, with Trump in S.K., wouldn’t it be prime time to send nukes to the U.S? If I was Un, I would know that Trump loves himself to much to order a nuclear strike close to where he is.

Un could probably take out half of the planet before Trump would order a hit on where he stands.

What sort of weaponry do you imagine North Korea to possess?

Pandora's avatar

Nuclear weapons. Does it need to be worse than that?

He doesn’t have the numbers required to destroy more than a few cities.

@filmfann So your okay with the millions it will kill? Cities have millions in them. There is also the possibility that once that happens that Russia and China will quickly try to take down our defenses to keep us from retaliating in the region. They won’t attack NK because it’s too close to them. Plus they hate us more than NK. They will be forced to take a side and they were never on our side when it came to NK.
So even if NK doesn’t have enough weapons to do the ultimate damage. Russian and China more than make up for it.

At this point NK does not have the capability to get a missile to the mainland US so any attack will have to be hand carried or sent by FedEx.
They might be able to send one into SK and take Trump out but that would be tantamount to suicide for the entire country and they are well aware of that.
Un wants to continue ruling his country unopposed, hard to do when you are radioactive dust.

You understand that North Korea in right next to South Korea.

BOOM !

No more South Korea and no more Trump.

Based upon the limited history we have we can be sure of one thing: The trip will not have a positive outcome.
The best that we can hope for is, nothing happens. No one is insulted and no conventional weapons are released. Sadly, we know the first part is unlikely.
(If he can insult a “gold star” family and not feel an apology is in order he really shouldn’t be sent out to diplomatic meetings.)

The US commitment to the Korean peninsula is already disaster enough. Nothing much is going to make it better.

@Pandora My response referred to the OP which stated:
Un could probably take out half of the planet before Trump would order a hit on where he stands.
I am not taking things lightly.

By the way, the OP also starts by asking: Could Trumps travel to South Korea spell disaster for the U.S.? It is my belief that disaster for the U.S. is much more likely when he returns.

No North Korea has for a very long time been following fear tactics. Russia and China coming to defense of North Korea is a horrible move on their end as well.

More and more the real war is economics.

Have you considered the defensive systems put in place by US, South Korea, and other countries? I doubt we civilians know the full scope of weapon systems put in place should such things occur.

I know what Patriot and THAAD anti missile systems in South Korea are and there are holes. KIm Jong-Un just wants to show the world he is a power to be reckoned with and feared.
