Have you known any M-F couples who had the same first name?

Asked by Jeruba (56061points) October 27th, 2017

I’ve known Robin & Robin, Simon & Simone, Chris & Chris, and Jerry & Geri. How about you? Any Lees or Andys or Leslies? Are you part of such a couple yourself?

I wonder if the attraction is at least in some small part a sort of innocent narcissism, just as some couples almost look as if they could be related, say, as cousins. I also wonder if they ever kind of resent the duplication or if they get exasperated with the inevitable mix-ups—or if they are just forever charmed by the irresistible cuteness of it.

No, but one of my high school friends dated a fellow with her same, somewhat uncommon last name. People used to ask if they were married, even though they were only 15 and 16 at the time.

My brother, SIL, and their son, all have unisex first names, so sometimes I think people get confused as to who is who.

Sometimes people who know both me and my brother, but only as casual acquaintances, will say hello to me and call me “Chris” when that’s my brother’s name, and then look at him to say hello and realize that he couldn’t possibly be named Mary, and then they all get flummoxed.

Recently, one of my cousins got married, so now I have two Karen Joneses in my FB list and I have to make sure I’m speaking to the correct one. One doesn’t care about my family’s Christmas party details, and the other doesn’t care about my weekend plans or information about the other woman’s husband. Lol.
