What is snap chat?
One of my grandkids put that crap on my phone and I have no clue what it is.

Dont mind them using my phone but I wish they would explain these things before they download these gadjets. I’m afraid I’ll throw my phone out of whack if I touch the icon for the thing.
Ms. Mimi is up early. Responding even we speak. Type?
SnapChat is basically a messaging app that helps you to chat with your friends using selfies and short videos. It’s just like Facebook with more emphasis on selfies.
Now you can see why your kid downloaded that thing.
Guess I might need to into that. Thanks.
It’s also based on the idea of impermanence. The messages you send and receive (selfies, short written messages, short videos, photos) are only available to the receiver for a finite amount of time. Once viewed, they disappear. It is meant to be like a live conversation in that way.
Unlike say, text or twitter, where you can keep (document) the thread of the conversation forever.
Ok, so harmless kid stuff basically. Thanks.
If you are not going to use it…delete it…you don’t need that on your phone.
Yup, just another option for communication via social media and the web.
I’m not a fan of the interface, but I dig the idea of impermanence.
Yeah, so it’s just an app to keep with with people while posting/sending pics or texts that go away after a viewing or timeframe.
People post things to their “stories” which stay on for 24 hours. People can click through them and see what they posted. They can be as long or as short as the user wants. I kinda use it of and on. I’ll have it downloaded for a while, get bored, then uninstall it. I have a few social media accounts and snapchat is the most useless out of all of them, in my opinion.
I’ve never had it, but I’ve seen it used by other people. Snapchat can made your face look silly and distorted, or it can give you cartoonish features such as a dog’s nose and ears.
The first time someone did such things to my own image, I laughed and enjoyed. The second time, I was bored. Really, for how long can that sort of gimmick be clever and funny?
