I am not singling out any one country, this goes for every country out there.
Ask HRH Prince Harry. Sure, he isn’t a politician, but he does move in those circles, and he has done plenty of active duty.
Of the combat vets I know personally, some become more aggresive from the experiences, some get quite passive.
It really seems to depend on the individual.
There are leaders who thrive on the idea of martyrdom, so they wouldn’t balk.
Lots of men have gone into battle with heroism in mind.
Presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon and G.H.W. Bush were all combat veterans and they sent US soldiers someplace in harms way.
Presidents Wilson, Roosevelt, Johnson, Clinton, George W. Bush, Obama and Trump were not combat veterans, and they did too.
I don’t think it makes much difference one way or the other.
