I wear elbow pads as part of my daily office attire.

I often vocalize my thought in private. I’m well aware that I talk to myself so I don’t want anyone to see that.

kritiper's avatar

I pick up dog poo for money.

Funny, I shower in the dark as well, I hate having a bright light above me when I shower.

I also like to smell new magazines and books, which really isn’t that unusual. But sometimes I do this in bookstores and I get weird looks.

jonsblond's avatar

I make my bed right after I wake up.

imrainmaker's avatar

I love the smell of new books too..But i won’t smell in the shop for sure:)

I prefer the smell of old books. It seems like they carry scents from far away, a summer porch, someone’s favorite tea, a hint of pipe tobacco. I’m talking fifty years or older.
To me, new books just smell like they haven’t lived yet.

janbb's avatar

@Patty_Melt I love that.

I try not to make new books look read; I like them pristine. Think of all the life they have ahead of them!

ragingloli's avatar

Think of all the germs infesting an old book.
Like sniffing and fondling an old toilet seat that has never been washed. So much “history”.

Muad_Dib's avatar

I take perfectly good vegetable oils and turn them into soap.

kritiper's avatar

@ragingloli My dad once told me how the clean kids who played indoors or out of the dirt streets were always sick and the kids who played in the streets with the fresh and dried horse manure and pee stayed healthy.

janbb's avatar

@kritiper I agree. Exposure to germs, especially from library books, is good for you!

ragingloli's avatar

Tell that to Freddy Mercury.

kritiper's avatar

Well, all examples can’t always apply all of the time. Freddy just bit off more than he could chew, and one bit him back!! Cruel realm!

ragingloli's avatar

Tell that to the 50 million people that died from the plague.

Loli, you need a nap.

I was reminded today of a weird thing I would do when I was a kid.
I used to take the peanut halves out of the can and try to match them.

imrainmaker's avatar

Lol..It reminds me of one thing I used to do as a kid. For some time I had this habit of trying to pick up small things by foot especially small stones. Used to pick them up by foot and throw them away as far I could :) Don’t know how I got this habit but it was there for a brief period..!!

kritiper's avatar

@ragingloli I’ll repeat first sentence of my last post!

I always sniff my tea bag before I dunk it into the hot water in my cup. It smells so good.

Patty_Melt's avatar

It is also somewhat healing. I sometimes sniff a teabag to help with my fibromyalgia pain. It only helps for a few minutes, but that is sometimes enough to head off a mind boggling spasm.
A lady saw me in the last days of my pregnancy. She was a total stranger, and timid about approaching me. She asked if I felt faint. I told her I was. She handed me a fresh picked sprig of rosemsry, and told me to sniff it. It worked! I kept it with me the remainder of the day. I picked a fresh sprig from the first plant I saw each day until I dropped that load.
We leave behind things which kept our ancestors healthy as we push ourselves further and further from the nature we belong to.

Kardamom's avatar

@Patty_Melt, that’s interesting. I never really thought about it like that. I have a bottle of cedar essential oil that I like to sniff, because it temporarily calms me, and places me right in the forest.

Talk to my fish, my plants, wild birds and bunnies.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Is that weird? Okay, add those to me too.
I had a squirrel come onto my porch for Thanksgiving leftovers. I talked a bit to ease his tension, then I tossed him some pie crust.
He left happy.

When I first became a vampire, I was quite tyrannical.
I was known for torturing a lot of people.
I tended to torture when I was in a bad place.
My thing was, I would poke someone
with implements.
I was known as ‘Vladislav the poker’.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Ha! I poke you with a stick, Vlad.

I have a tendency to read. I usually have at least two books going at one time. My grandkids tell me no-one reads books anymore.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Your grandkids are mistaken. My teen daughter reads and reads. When she was in the fourth grade she had her own home library, with well over a hundred books.
When she was in second grade we found out several of her classmates had not one book at home, so we sorted through hers, and came up with about forty to donate to them. They all loved books, they just didn’t have any.
I held reading groups for her class after school sometimes. I read to them some, but mostly they read to me. They rallied to have the next turn.
I heard the chicken butt story so many times, I can’t imagine how I don’t know it by heart even now.
People read, so do kids.

rojo's avatar

Also, I have a tendency to crush my toast down before I butter it.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Okay, that is weird. I used to smasb my peanut butter sandwiches to almost paper thin, then fold it over and over. I would end up with this compact cube that had lines of white and brown.
