Does anyone here kickbox? Or know someone who does?
Kind of want to try some new hobbies that will keep me active. A new kickboxing store/place opened up near where I live. Kind of interested in trying it.
Is this considered aerobic cardiovascular exercise? I want something that will keep my heart and lungs healthy.
Did you notice differences in your body or strength from kick boxing?
Is it fun or Hell?

I do MMA type training. Never been to a kick boxing class, but several other martial arts facilities. It depends on the instructor, as far as fun, actual knowledge, and level of physicality. Some instructors are kind, thoughtful, and have a true understanding of the art. Others can be militaristic, harsh, and impatient, and everywhere in between.
I would see if they would let you sit in on a couple lessons. Then you would get a feel for what you would be doing, and how the instructor/s teach. Especially before buying a certain amount of lessons.
Ideally, you learn how to train, and do it yourself, or with a group. Then, you treat it like any other exercise. Get a schedule, and stick to it.
I’ve seen plenty of female “kick boxing” courses, where the instructor clearly has no understanding of any martial arts, and the classes are basically aerobics. The girls have fun, but learn very little useful techniques.
If you just want something different to do, and don’t necessarily want to learn the art, those classes will be fine. If you really want to get serious about it, find a good place.
Martial arts are great for self-confidence, self-discipline, and obviously self defense. Some focus only on fighting, while others concentrate on body, and spirit. You may really like it. I recommend you try it out.
Let us know if you try. Hope you enjoy it.
Well, I know tae kwon do. Used to, anyway.
Did I notice any difference? OMG yes! I was stronger, faster and more limber. It will give you a good cardio work out!
