To be as gentle with you as it is possible to be… if you cannot or will not distinguish truth from falsehood in your statements, and if you can’t even understand the language well enough to know that “best” is a superlative condition that means “there is no equal or superior”, then how can you expect to communicate and be understood in this language and culture?

It may be that having several friends described as “best” (at the same time) may be confusing and off-putting to them. It may be that they get tired of the confusion (or falsehoods) and simply leave out of a sense of self-preservation and respect for honesty and truth.

I quit having birthday parties with friends at about 12. After that it was just my family, very low key. After that I was often working on my birthday.
