In "Inferno", why is Dan Brown inclined toward transhumanism?

To use it to solve overpopulation. To clarify, in Robert Langdon’s terms: “Zobrist wanted to thin the herd … in order to buy more time”.

Quite the opposite, if the human population decreased by 90%, we would not need transhuman improvements to live better lives.
