It is 350 miles down 101 to Ventura from where I live.
The Bay Area has been advised we may get smoke from Southern California starting tonight. We are also on watch for wind conditions similar to early October in the wine country.
My sisters son and my ex-roomate is in what he thinks is a safe zone. He thinks his place will make it but there is worry about smoke. So I suggested he doesn’t make the same mistake I did here in Oregon and take action until the air filters were gone. If he never needs them great, they can de returned to Home Depot.
I have mountain range and significant prairie between it and me.
I might be sitting on top of a sink hole though.
I am a couple of thousand miles away.
When I lived in Los Angeles, we had a ash falling like light snow once from a fire 50 miles away in the San Gabriels.
about 4340 nautical miles
I’m about 30 miles from the Thomas fire, which has now burned 132,000 acres (206 square miles).
I live about 9 miles from the Creek fire, and 3 miles from the Skirball fire.
I still have all my irreplaceable items and a travel bag stashed in one place, ready to go. When the Skirball fire erupted two days ago, it was all in my car.
TC man..! I hope everything will be back to normal.

I do have lots of family in the area, but I’m not worried.
