Fantasy. Can’t stand the genre.
Horror. If I want guts and gore, I can turn on the news.
Sappy romances. For obvious reasons.
The other genre of moves that I can’t stand: something that is trying to persuade me to adopt some political stance. I didn’t like The Green Berets for that reason. I didn’t like Erin Brockovich for the same reason. And I won’t watch anything by Michael Moore.
When I see a movie, I want to be entertained. Not preached to.
The best horror movies are the ones that don’t revolve around gore.
I don’t see how anyone could disagree with Erin Brockovich. Unless you’re the kind of person that agrees with Trump letting chemical plants pollute toxic waste.
I like Clint Eastwood but I didn’t like “Unforgiven”.
All of the recent JarJarTrek movies.
Rogue One.
Kung Fury.
Frozen.
All of the DC movies post Nolan.
Jurassic World.
Kingsman.
Prometheus.
Pacific Rim.
Boyhood.
Cloverfield.
Oh, and “saving private ryan”. they should have all been mowed down in the opening.
“Casablanca,” which just never appealed to me.
“Gone With The Wind,” bloated and superficial.
“Grease.” I’ve never gotten through more than a few, stray minutes on basic cable channels.
Rocky horror picture show.
Titanic (to this day, Celine Dion is my equivalent of a metal rake scratching a chalkboard)
Shakespeare in Love
Mad Max: Fury Road
Transformers (II to L)
Most animated movies post Toy Story 3 (with honorable exceptions).
I don’t like musicals… None of them…
But just to be clear, not all movies need to be like the Schindler’s List for me to like them, Dodgeball and Idiocracy are way up in my list!
Pulp Fiction
Lord of the Rings (Ugh! I spent hours in a movie theatre pleasing my father, he dozed off so I went shopping and came back and he didn’t even know!).
Star Wars
anything Sky Fi
Star Wars VII: The Farce Awakens
JJ Abrams Star Trek films
Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy
Mad Max: Fury Road
all Fast & Furious films
Big Trouble In Little China
Oklahoma!
Probably others I’ve thankfully forgotten.
@LornaLove Oh my, I love Lord of the Rings, it reminds me of my youth!
You reminded me of Stella on How I Met Your Mother (in a good way)
My number one on the list of movies that I hated, but other people seem to love is Pulp Fiction.
Except for the original Star Wars movie (episode IV) and all the Star Trek movies, Indon’t care for sci fi at all.
I also don’t like fantasy movies like Lord of The Rings or Avatar or Harry Potter (but I did watch every single HP movie due to the mere fact that Alan Rickman was in all of them, so it was worth it).
I don’t like superhero movies, except for the first Superman with Christopher Reeves.
I don’t like horror or zombie movies (although I do like “classic” renditions of Dracula).
I don’t like most action movies with car chases, weaponry, fighting, or explosions.
This list makes it sound like I don’t enjoy movies, which is very far from the truth.
Here are some movies that I do love, to give some idea of my taste.
Love Actually
Young Frankenstein
The Illusionist
Becoming Jane
Mrs. Brown
Toy Story
Rear Window
Avatar. Just some guy who can’t make up his mind and turns in to a hero all of a sudden. Nothing interesting here.
Oh god, Avatar. What a turd.
In the same vein: Titanic. Horribly schmalzy love story distracting from the one thing the film should have focused on: The ship ramming the iceberg. Well, at least DiCaprisun died at the end.
Another vote for Pulp Fiction. The audience laughed when the guy in the car was shot in the face. I was appalled.
Reservoir Dogs was awful, too. I don’t understand at all why cruel violence is supposed to be entertaining.
The Deer Hunter
Terms Of Endearment
American Beauty
Gravity
All crap. I really don’t understand how anyone can enjoy these.
Avatar. I fell asleep watching it.
(I was sober)
I love Rubber but there are many haters.
Titanic
E.T
Close Encounters
Avatar
Just off that top of my head
Man of Shi, er, Man of Steel.
@filmfann
I thought Gravity was quite thrilling. And I love American Beauty, I appreciate the complex nature of the film. But I do agree that it gets overpraisd way too much, even Sam Mendes agrees.
Kind of strange though that you can’t understand why people might enjoy them.
I go along with Gravity. I kept waiting for a plot development.
Austin Powers
Every romantic comedy, all of them
Every James Cameron film except for Aliens and the Abyss.
All the new comic book films except for the first Iron Man and the dark knight trilogy, especially Ben Affleck as the new batman…just wrong.
Not a film but the walking dead sucks.
I will second politically themed films, I don’t like sitting through a sales pitch even if I’m buying.
Not trying to be mean but Pulp Fiction is one of the top five movies ever made. Hating it is just not right and you need to loosen up and not take life so seriously or you will miss it.
The Deer Hunter
Casablanca
Tootsie
Star Wars
The Dark Knight
The Godfather
Fight Club
The Shawshank Redemption
Star Wars
Anything by Michael Moore the fat deceiver
