Why is it so hard to qualify for online surveys?

Asked by AshlynM (10684points) December 11th, 2017

I’ve taken many questionnaires over time, but seems I never qualify for any surveys. I’ve tried many websites, but no luck. I’ve even lied a little about my race and income, and still, I can’t qualify. What kind of information are they looking for? Why is it so tough to qualify for surveys?
Also, why do some of them take so long to pay you?

They are looking for certain combinations of traits, and can fill up on people in your category even if they want people in your category. Applying ASAP could help with the second issue.

Also I wouldn’t lie about anything if dealing with the same agency, as they may check for consistency in your answers and rule you out if you answer differently each time.

I’ve not had a problem being paid timely – it’s always been on the spot, but sometimes via a pre-paid card.

What kind of surveys?

@Dutchess_III The ones I have participated in have all turned out to be market research studies for products or companies, though they don’t generally tell you what they are exactly about until you are doing them.

And you can get paid for this?

Opinion surveys. But it’s very tedious work and most of the time you don’t qualify.

Could you send me a link to one?

opinionoutpost.com is one example. You have to sign up though.

@Dutchess_III Yes, you can get paid for them. I have been paid for ones done in person, generally $50–100 for an hour or two.
