Can we all gather for a little positivity as a new year is coming?

Asked by Mimishu1995 (23800points) December 23rd, 2017

Yeah, I know we can all agree that this year has been rough. I have my fair share of shit too and this year seems to be harder than before.

So I think we should at least gather around and cheer each other up. We can’t just wallow in negativity. We need some smile to keep on moving.

I know 2018 won’t guarantee a better year, but a little positivity won’t hurt right?

Why not?
By my thinking a pessimist and a loser are the same thing.
Who truly wants to be a loser.
Thus, who would choose to be a pessimist.
The most basic combat principle- if you assume you are going to be killed, you will hesitate to do what has to be done to survive.
So in the real world, a similar principle applies
If you succumb to your assumption that it’s all bad, you will not pursue what is good.

@josie And this comes from a veteran.

I wholeheartedly agree. A friend of mine taught me about the power of positivity. Positivity can take us to great places we don’t expect.

I’m going to go with “nope”. (sorry @josie. Big “L” on my forehead)

It’s only going to get worse as the Republicans all bend the knee and abandon all their principles.

My medication is wonderful. Only side effects are weight gain and drooling at night. Still traveling through time.

I agree with you @josie.

Everyone is responsible for their own happiness. This has been the worst year of my 46 year existence. I’ve paid attention to those who stay positive during the most difficult times of their life. I’ve learned more from them than from those who are Debbie Downers.

Can we not use this thread to argue about the validity of a person’s state of mind.

Let’s keep it positive. We can fight plenty, on all other threads. Please respect the OP’s good will….

Peace n love.

Lots of things are bad, but everything isn’t bad.

I can, for example, list the parts of my body that don’t hurt.

There are excellent moments, or at least the potential for excellent moments, even on the worst days. I’ve seen some of those worst days and can attest to that.

I feel very sorry about the conflict we’ve seen here on Fluther. I hope we can set aside our differences and restore our sense of community. The great wide world may be unable to do that, but in this little place, can’t we? It’s a nice way to honor those among us who have been friends to all, including some who are no longer here. Thanks, @Mimishu1995, for the call to optimism.
