It is looking pretty quiet for me. Dinner and a movie, and might even be bed before midnight.
Quietly, at home. I have hated NYE as a holiday since I was single many moons ago. Strangers kissing you at midnight (shudder). Drunks everywhere on the road.
Chinese take out, Netflix stand-up comedy and board games with my son and husband. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Got to work but don’t mind at all, Mrs Squeeky is working as well.
Not sure. It’s very cold at home so may just stay in with a pizza and Netflix.
First, during the day, I will give out Free Hugs in Stockholm, Sweden. After that I will probably just go home, cook me a nice meal and watch a movie.
I like to greet the New Year well rested and feeling good. I spent years doing the fun stuff, and it was, indeed, fun, but now this is my fun stuff.
It’s been a very low-key at-home observance for me for many years now. I don’t even tune into the show and countdown from Times Square any more because it’s just loud and boring. Hasn’t been the same since Dick Clark. (And yes, I actually used to watch Guy Lombardo and “Auld Lang Syne.”) Probably my husband and I will watch a movie, pause at midnight to watch the year turn over on someone’s phone (don’t blink!), and then finish the movie.
Oh, and have smooches all around, and text greetings to my sons if they’re not here.
We’ll see some friends on New Year’s Day, and I’ll change all the calendars, and that’s about it. Most of what happens just happens quietly inside my head.
Sometimes I write a private, never-shared account of how things stand with me on the first day of the year. This year will be better than last by a long shot, unless someone dies.
Will channel surf and talk to family.
Maybe go to a friends party for an hour or two. And then go home and try to stay up til midnight? We will see. My New Years are usually pretty calm
I’ll probably check in here for a bit, watch a movie on Netflix, and go to bed early. I’ve got a bit of a cold right now and I have no desire to be out and about.
I’m working. Then the next day I am going on the moody blues cruise.
Going out to a nice dinner with my wife, then watching the Vienna New Year’s Eve Concert on TV (if it’s being shown).
We live up on a hill, and at midnight we’ll watch all the illegal fireworks going on all around us.
there will apparently be a confusing poker game/ jigsaw puzzle/ quilting festival at our place. Strange the way life works out.
Also I will Fluther and YouTube and video chat with my mom.
Literally speaking of course I shall be looking at a timepiece of some sort

At home cozily ensconced with my husband. I really developed a dislike of the holiday when I was single. Now it’s just another day except for some reflection about my life and the past year.
