This is too broad a question.
Imagine that girl I have a crush on and I will date, fall in love, raise a family? Happens all the time, sometimes great, sometimes poorly.
Imagine that money will mysteriously appear in my bank account? Only if something with questionable legality occurs.
Imagine my cholesterol clears up if I eat an In’n’Out double double everyday? I’ll keel over from a heart attack fairly soon.
Its called a self-fulfilling prophecy. When you get it life becomes like being trapped in the twilight zone.
I can imagine many different things you might mean by that question as it’s written.
First I imagine I’m invulnerable and immortal. Then I imagine that no one else has this same power. Then I imagine that all the nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons in the world become inoperable without anyone noticing. Then I imagine that all the nasty CEO’s and corporate pawn politicians and string-pulling billionaires get teleported into a private prison complex where I imagine they are interrogated to find out all of their corrupt contacts, who are similarly detained. Then I imagine a wave of concern for protecting non-human species and their environments sweeps through the hearts and minds of the people of the world. Then I imagine that people’s inner Buddha-nature awakens in people around the world, and they forget about their entrenched antagonistic thoughts and begin communicating and cooperating for the good of everyone. Etc…
I have often imagined that I have returned to the world I was supposed to be born in. The one where everyone lived a life leading to the best possible outcome.
To a great extent it has already happened and is still happening. Look around you, what do you see? A chair perhaps, an electric light, a book, a TV screen, a pen, a carpet, a packet of paper tissues. At one time none of these things existed, they were all in someone’s imagination. New things will happen in our lives that today we are just beginning to dream of.
Nooooo…my imagination and fantasies would lead me to bad end. If I am suddenly transported from my car driving to work, and find that I’m Captain Bad Ass of the Foreign Legion making a last stand with my men to defend Fort Sandflea from Abdul El Krum and his rampaging Riff Raff? Or Captain Rocket exploring a volcanic ridge on the Planet That Time Forgot? Hells bells I could get dead real quick. Imagination and fantasies don’t always make a good translation into reality.
Obama was on David Letterman’s new show on Netflix. He said that the things you search for online creates personalized algorithms that may, or may not reflect reality. It’s YOUR personal reality and it could be way out in left field.
Obama then recounted a science experiment (“not a big scientific experiment, but just an experiment that somebody did during the revolution that was taking place in Egypt”) where a liberal, a conservative and a “quote-unquote moderate” were asked to search for “Egypt,” and Google presented each of them with very different results.
“Whatever your biases were, that’s where you were being sent, and that gets more reinforced over time,” he said. “That’s what’s happening with these Facebook pages where more and more people are getting their news from. At a certain point you just live in a bubble, and that’s part of why our politics is so polarized right now.” Source
Spooky. I’ll have to more careful what I search for.
Hell will have frozen over. (Dear mods, this question does not belong in the General section.)
I can imagine turning into doo doo. Would that happen to me?
BZAP! ^^ You are doo doo.
Oops. Be careful ya’ll.
I believe nothing is impossible. I believe in magic and dreams. The wonder of magic is indeed a wonderful thing. Even if it means transmutation into excrement.
Read the secret…..It’s a book and a movie. Down the rabbit hole; what the bleep do we know anyway is also related.
@Yellowdog “Tread softly for you tread on my dreams” ?
egad—you mean the wish machine would take my soul, too ?
