Mike Pence (VP) is visiting the Middle East this week. Is this a practice run for when he becomes president?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33550points) January 22nd, 2018

Pence was in Egypt and Jordan; today he is in Israel. He comes back to the US in a couple days.

Is this early preparation for when he takes over the presidency? Is meeting with Netanyahu (and other leaders in that part of the world) a sensible move to make, so he can hit the ground running when he becomes president?

Dream on. It’s not abnormal for a VP to go abroad.

What I can’t figure out is: how can a non-essential trip continue with no funding? Why isn’t he stuck in DC?

As mentioned above, it isn’t anomalous. If he was sent to every country, like a world tour, then we can read more into it…
