From a restaurant or home made? Can you afford it year round?

I can currently buy eggs for less than $0.50 a dozen and a pound of bacon for $3.60. So 2 eggs cost about $0.08 and four strips of bacon $0.90 total.
If you don’t count cooking costs breakfast for less than a dollar.

At home I have the same thing for breakfast each morning and it costs around 50p. It isn’t a fry up breakfast but it is healthy and nutritious and satisfying.

A dozen eggs for less than $.50? Where do you live @Tropical_Willie? When they go on sale here they sell for $1.00.

A home cooked breakfast shouldn’t cost much at all. Of course, it depends on what you consider a good breakfast.

Restaurant- $3.00 (like Sonic breakfast sandwich) Home-.50 cent biscuits, butter milk and a smidge of flour, maybe $2.00. Not a breakfast person personally.

*Farm eggs here are $2 per dozen, less if you bring your own egg carton.

—I had a Sonic BLT for the first time ever. And the last. The toast was soggy instead of toasty. bleh.—-

I buy nice big freshly farmed eggs at a farmer’s market for $4/dozen. Eight times as expensive as Willie only amounts to 64 cents for two eggs. I usually eat three on a day like yesterday where I had three eggs, so that brings me to 96 cents, still under a dollar.

Another cheap good breakfast I eat is oatmeal with milk and honey or brown sugar.

I also like good bread toasted with butter and/or honey and/or good real (no high-fructose corn syrup) jam.

Eggs, whole wheat bread for toast, peanut butter, oatmeal, prunes, milk, coffee, orange juice, and whole grain cereal can all be found at Dollar Tree, and the 99 Cent Only store.

I have some of these items (not all at the same time) pretty much every day.

You have to understand what is a good (healthy) breakfast, and how to bargain shop. You also have to be willing to understand and then follow through. No magic involved.

My eggs cost $4 for 18 and $5— $10 for bacon. I don’t eat breakfast every day so food goes bad. I’m looking for non-perishable food. I bought some freeze dried granola and blueberries with milk for $7.85 that expires in 2044. Just add 150ml of cold water and stir. That way it is simple to make and no dirty dishes. I have toast and jam for now. It would cost $2,400 for a year’s supply so thats not feasible I will look into buying granola by itself and saving money and leaving premade stuff for emergencies.

How much is a good breakfast? What constitutes a “good” breakfast?? On the road I’ll be having ham and eggs, w/4 eggs over easy, hash browns, 2 slices whole wheat toast w/butter and jam, coffee and a glass of milk. Maybe about $10.
(BTW, when’s lunch?)
Here at home I have about 2 cups of oatmeal w/sugar and skim milk, and a pot of unsweetened tea. Less than $.50 per serving.

the traditional bacon, ham or sausage & egg breakfast with hash browns & toast will
run you between $10–12 not counting the tip. This is at cafes and diners, not the chains like Denny’s or IHOP. I can’t explain it, but for some unaccountable reason, those places irritate me.

If you visit Cal Neva in Reno, Nevada, you can get their signature breakfast for $1.99. It includes two eggs cooked your way, hash browns, toast, and choice of either ham, bacon, or sausage.

Egg prices are all over the place right now. About a year ago, the poultry farms of Iowa (main source of eggs for the entire U.S.) were stricken with a bird virus. To prevent spreading, millions of birds were slaughtered, farms were quarrantined, and I think it also involved some turkeys.
Prices elevated everywhere overnight.
Things are going lots better now, but many merchants are taking advantage of people having put up with the price hike.
Where I live some are still selling at the inflated prices, but some are back down to about fifty cents per dozen.
You have to do some homework to find them.
I like to make a fried egg, ham, and cheese sandwich on toast. Include a glass of milk, and breakfast is about seventy cents to a dollar, depending on current sales.

Edit – Can Neva takes Canadian cash. They have conversion there.

When we go out to breakfast on Saturday mornings I order 2 eggs, toast and milk. It’s about $3.00. The milk is the most expensive thing.

@Dutchess_III I think it is a “GAS WAR ” for eggs; jumbos for 39 cents a dozen and extra large for 38 cents.

Man! Send me your eggs @Tropical_Willie!
