Oh The Places You’ll Go….
Seuss for all ages…Classic.
Maybe Green Eggs and Ham…I LIKE it, Sam-I-Am!
Oooh, no, I just remembered The Lorax. It’s kind of sad, and enlightening at the same time.
Absolutely no question: Fox in Socks! Best book ever. Wonderful imagery, tongue twisters, great to learn how to read and speak, fun at any age.
Let’s have a little talk about tweetle beetles…
The Sneetches: I have seen and read this classic numerous times and never seem to be disappointed. It deals with discrimination at its core but formated in a style that even children can understand. As always, creative lyrics, colorful illustrations, and vital central theme.
Obviously The Cat in the Hat. That cat was such a troublemaker!
Oh, that’s a tough one… I’d have to go with either Fox in Socks or One Fish Two Fish – but I’m also a big fan of The Sneetches and The Butter Battle Book. Oh, and Yertle the Turtle! There’s just too many to pick…
On a side note, has anyone read Dr. Seuss & Mr. Geisel ? I’ve been meaning to read it for years, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet – it looks like a great biography…
Green Eggs and Ham hands down! I love reading it to my boys, I raise my voice as the guy talking to Sam I am gets increasingly irate and it always makes them laugh. Second would be One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.
Put me in the Zoo. Great metaphor for the ‘human condition’.
Dr. Seuss was one smart cookie!
green eggs and ham all the way. i also like one fish two fish.
I’m a fan of Fox in Socks and The Lorax, as well as a close second, If I Ran the Circus. They’re just so fun! However, I love all of the Dr. Seuss books, and still take time to read them now…very hard to choose!
I don’t know if it’s my favorite but The Sneetches affected me the most. The discrimination seriously distressed me when I was a kid.
Hooray for Diffendoofer Day!!
Dr. Suess had been working on completing this book for two years when he died, and his publisher had two other authors finish it. I teach 3rd grade and love reading this book at the beginning of the school year. Every teacher should read it!
“We’ve taught you that the earth is round, that red and white make pink, and something else that matters more—We’ve taught you how to think.”
“I Had Trouble In Getting To Solla-Sollew.” The lesson is that while you can’t get rid of your problems, you can certainly get the tools to help you deal with them.
I was just in the Suessical: the Musical production, and looking back to some of my favorite Suess books, it was fun to see some of the lyrics in the songs in the books.
I’m gonna have to go with Cat in a Hat as it probably had the most influence on me. I try to behave like him whenever and wherever I can. I have no friends, but I have a lot of fun. Goldfish hate me in particular.
