Are high school students allowed to drink coffee in class?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24945points) January 29th, 2018

I had problems waking up in school and am wondering would it help if I brought coffee in the morning to class? Should teenagers drink coffee in school? When should one start to drink coffee? When should one start to drink coffee , and how do you learn how to drink coffee?

Coffee was available via vending machine at my high school fifty years ago. With kids going to Starbucks on the way to school, lots of them are drinking coffee.

But most teachers do not allow food or beverages in class; it is disruptive.

I started drinking coffee at home when I was 13or 14 (it wasn’t momentous enough for me to remember, not at all like the first time I drank alcohol.) I drank it with milk (still do) and sugar, but dropped the sugar before I got out of high school.

I am from a Scottish family, and drinking tea after dinner was part of the family gathering, I started drinking tea when I was four. We were not excused from the table after dinner until after my parents had their finished their first cup of tea.

Coffee really helps me. Two cups and I’m hyper focused. May as well but get better than Starbucks, gross.

Ok trying some Christmas tea with no milk or sugar. Herb tea. Cinnamon.

@all Yuck. It didn’t do anything. I didn’t appreciate it.

@RedDeer haha! Try GOOD coffee with non fat milk, yummy. Your grocer should have a good gourmet blend fresh ground fairly cheap and socially conscious.

Yes. I bring coffee in a mug every morning.
It’s in the cafeteria as a vending machine. But it’s expensive. $2.75 vs what I buy which is a container of hills bro cappuccino coffee that’s only $3.65, tastes good and lasts me about a month/ish. We have a large snack-sized vending machine for coffee in one of the entrances, and then a small mini vending machine for coffee in the snack bar thing in the cafeteria. School coffee is gross but has caffeine, plus can get expresso with it. (It’s not decaf basically)

@RedDeerGuy1 Christmas herbal tea with cinnamon doesn’t have caffeine in it. Try drinking a real tea.

And besides, you don’t need anything to keep you awake right now anyway.

@zenvelo I will get bulk plain or earl grey tea next time I go shopping. Will try some next time I take a school exam in June .

@RedDeerGuy1 Don’t waste your money buying bulk tea if you are not going to drink it often. It will lose its intensity over time, and by June it will taste like dirty water.

I don’t think it ever occurred to me, or my school mates, to bring a drink into the classroom.
