What is the glass stand in speeches?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24945points) January 30th, 2018

It is a glass screen on a stand next to the speaker. What is it for?

It is similar to the HUD (head-up-display) used in some car windshields.

The text of the speaker’s addressed is projected onto each glass surface. This is why the speaker never needs to look down for notes, an outline, etc. The result is very polished; the individual seems as if he’s addressing the crowd and talking from memory, when s/he is actually reading.
