Smart and arrogant for sure, so hot.

Give me the latter. I’ve had a lot of experience with the former and it isn’t a nice memory. They really know how to make you feel bad for even being around them. At least the latter is easier to ignore.

Its like if I prefer Pinky or the Brain? I am torn.

Dumb + arrogant, a combination that’s so easy to dismiss and forget. Smart + arrogant can leave me with a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Smart and arrogant, dumb would just make me want to run over them repeatedly .

There is nothing as irritating as arrogance coupled with ignorance. This is why the very sound of Trump makes me foam at the mouth. I’ll take pompous intellect any day.

Smart and arrogant. No doubt I would be tempted to kill the dumb one after a very short time…

@stanleybmanly Trump is a lot of negative things but he’s not ignorant or dumb.

Zaku's avatar

Usually smart and arrogant, though it depends on the person. You didn’t mention how likeable they are.

stanleybmanly's avatar

@gondwanalon you surprise me. But you have a legitimate point. He is a PROFOUNDLY ignorant man.

I don’t like to be around arrogant people. Doesn’t matter how smart / dumb they are. I’ll run away from both as soon as possible..)

A person who is smart and arrogant can at least recognize a good counter-argument to what they are saying. Their arrogance may keep them from acknowledging their error, but they will at least stop making that particular point. Not so for someone who is dumb and arrogant.

My head just exploded.

kritiper's avatar

It is not to say I wouldn’t also kill the smart and arrogant one, perhaps later, though…

It’s worth mentioning that arrogance is the calling card of insecurity. If a person’s truly smart, and if that person has confidence in his/her intelligence, s/he’s likely to wear intelligence with subtle humility. I’ve known so many brilliant people with a charming modesty; they let intelligence speak for itself, and they never use their brains for intimidation.

Let’s consider the current POTUS, the walking embodiment of arrogance, and man who described himself as “like, really smart” and “a very stable genius.”

@gondwanalon You weren’t serious about Trump not being ignorant….?

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Oh no Trump isn’t ignorant, sorta like the time he told that tv reporter that Russia would never invade Crimea, only that they did about a year and a half before that interview.

Or when he refused to go to the UK to open the new us embassy because he said the us got screwed on this one done by the evil Obama, only that embassy deal was done by the Bush administration.
Oh no Trump isn’t ignorant or arrogant ,(BARF).

LostInParadise's avatar

It is not just that Trump is ignorant. He does not place much value on truth, or maybe he is so arrogant as to think that he is in charge of what is true. Now that is real power.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Did you know Puerto Rico is an island surrounded by water? No. He’s not a complete idiot.

gondwanalon's avatar

I think Tump acts ignorant.

Trump will continue to act ignorant an dumb. These are tools that work well for him. It’s his MO.

A mechanic can be a brilliant engineer but he can’t do his work without using his tools. You don’t call the mechanic dumb because he uses a brainless wrench or hammer.

stanleybmanly's avatar

If he indeed is “acting” ignorant, those accepting of it are his tools.

Dutchess_III's avatar

He’s doing a flawless job of “acting” ignorant. He should be a movie star. He could win an Oscar.
I hereby award Trump an Oscar. Meyer. Wiener.

Took the words out of my mouth. I second his nomination for Academy Award, Best Actor – “I Wanna Be POTUS.”
