What are your regular work-day hours?

Asked by rojo (24179points) February 13th, 2018

If you have (or had if retired now) any proscribed hours you have to be at work. And in what country or area of the country are/were you located?

I live in Texas and when I worked for someone else 8 hour days/5 days a week were from 8am to 5pm with an hour off for lunch. However working until 6pm was not unusual and on bid days through lunch as well (on salary so no one but me cared).
When I worked for myself my work day usually started at 7am, lunch was occasional or whatever I could grab from the roach coach or a drive through. The day was never over before 4pm and usually closer to 6pm.

My wife, same area, has 8 hour days/5 days a week: 7am to 3:30pm with 30 minute lunch break but at least twice a week she is there until 4:30 pm or later and at least once a month is expected to be there at 5:30am for a meeting with the night crew.

I pretty much maintain my own schedule, but the down side to that is everyone assumes that I have nothing but free time to haul them around or repair this, remedy that, babysit or whatever.

I work 3:30 to 7:00 but the days/amount of days a week vary.

I work from 6:15 a.m. until 1:30 or 1:45. I am on the west Coast, but I work NY stock market hours.

I do get away from my desk, but we have no formal break or lunch time, as the market is open for 6 hrs and 45 minutes.

8:30am to 4:30pm

(When I was in software development, my day could be as long as 12:00am to 11:59pm.)

@ragingloli what planet?

Or (if Earth) what portion of the planet. Note: “surface” is not an acceptable answer

My own, clearly.
I do not like getting up early, so I set my hours to that.
The boss careth not, as long as stuff gets done.

I go when the truck gets in, and go until I get back it usually takes 8 to 9 hours all after noon shift.
But better than day shift that takes 13 to 14 hours.

I work out of my house; generally at my desk at 8:15 or 8:30, and generally stay at work until 5:30 or 6, sometimes later.

I haven’t had a required schedule for many years. When I did, it was usually from 9am minus lunch duration, to 5pm.

I usually get in to work around 9:15 or 9:30 and leave anywhere from 5:30 to 7 depending on how busy things are. Hours aren’t too strict, but I have to get my shit done. I work in software development.

I’ve gotten better over the years.

From 2007 to 2012, I worked 8AM to 7PM six days a week at one job plus taught two nights a week at a second job, for a total of 72 hours/week.

Job after that was a standard 40 hours/week from 2012 to 2017.

Now, I’m still working two jobs, but I’m only at each from 8AM to 2PM (alternating days), 5 days a week, for a total of 30 hours/week.

This feels like retirement.
