I’m assuming you mean 東方八犬異聞? Eight dogs of the east?

I checked and “touhou” means “walking”, a word not present in the official english title.

Maybe it translates to: “story of the eight walking dogs”?

I think @Lightlyseared has found the right ideograms which literally mean east eight dog different smell. Different could translate as extraordinary and smell as story or reputation. So the translation could be eight dogs from the east with extraordinary reputations. The dogs are characters in an anime series.

Touhou means east, not walking.
