Is it true that Dick's stopped selling assault style rifles after Sandy Hook, but only for a while?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47069points) February 28th, 2018

All I can find is “Dick’s (DKS) stopped selling military-style semi-automatic weapons after the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in 2012, but it kept selling them at its 35 Field and Stream stores.” That leads me to think DKS didn’t start selling them again, they’re just widening the ban.

Yes. They stopped selling the weapons, and most aftermarket parts. As you mentioned though, F and S, still did/do.
Another example of a corporation appearing to take a stand on something, when they aren’t. F and S revenue goes into the same pockets.

Just a PR move, with no real substance.

@MrGrimm888 I believe this time they’ve stopped selling them from Field and Stream stores as well.

The announcement made the other day was for their smaller chain, Field and Stream. Dick’s stopped selling after Sandy Hook but Field and Stream still sold them. Now Field and Stream will not be selling them.

Well. One instance, I’m glad I was wrong.

Right @Aethelwine. They just widened their net.
