I’m interested in long-term change, mostly. If you’ve been with your partner for a while, how have they (and you) changed? In what ways has your relationship improved?

This isn’t what you want to hear but….divorce. While it was not my choice, we managed to stay civil throughout the divorce and his remarriage which means we can get together a few times a years to talk about the triumphs and frustrations of our kids. And they if were ever in trouble, we could work together to help them.
the wife gave up smoking. It took 3 tries, but she’s been smoke free for 25 years now.
1) My wife and I blended our two families. We succeeded. 2) We had one of the children take many wrong turns in life and we ended up having her arrested. And in the end we helped to turn her around.
Well we went from poor to financially secure. We are successfully navigating the care of elderly parents. We went from fun loving bar hoppers to respected sober community members. Lots of things. We want eachother to be good humans, and we try to hel eachother overcome our character flaws with loving honest conversations quiteoften.
