Who do you think would give you an honest answer in their field?
Who would you trust more?
Sorry if this offends anyone but face it both don’t have a very good track record for being truthful.

Seems to me the jobs are interchangeable.
There are honest people in both careers. I’ll answer politicians though.
@KNOWITALL Very true the sad thing though they seem few and far between.
A politician. (But not by much…)They don’t rely on sales to get food on the table, or booze in their bellies.
I think this can be applied to all salespeople. Been to a Best Buy lately? They aren’t pushing you towards the best. That waitress offering the specials, the specials are old stock they need to clear fast before the can’t legally sell it.
Here is the fucking thing. You think you are smart and it is just the other idiots getting duped. Congressional approval is at like 20% but when you ask if they approve of who they voted for it is a resounding YES. You are smart, everyone else is a idiot. I am just as guilty of this as anyone else.
I have actually met a couple honest used car salesmen. I don’t know any honest politicians or at least I cannot confirm their honesty. I briefly worked sales, it was cut throat and there were what I would consider scams but perpetrated at higher levels. The salesmen just did what they were told either directly or indirectly through commissions. The people who did their research usually got fair deals, those who did not almost always got screwed. Americans need to do a better job researching the politicians that are sold to us.
I worked for 6 months, at a car dealership. We sold new cars, and had a smaller section for used cars. It was definitely shady as an oak tree. It was all about manipulation. I am proud to say that I was terrible at it.
I think politicians are far worse. I guess because they lie, and cheat on such bigger scale. A car salesman can’t deport your family, or take away your health care, or destroy the planet. So….
As far as politicians go, there are at least three types of statements to consider – giving statistical information, talking about conversations with heads of state and other government officials, and promises. The first two I would dismiss immediately. Fortunately, the statistical data is often data that can be fact checked. Political promises are another matter. You have to judge whether the politician is serious about what is promised, whether it is a high priority item, and how much power the politician has to accomplish what they say they will do.
