Any New Yorkers excited about Cynthia Nixon's challenge to Cuomo?
While technically a celebrity, she seems to be a legitimate progressive, and has been successful at attracting small donations so far.
Thoughts?
(I’m not a New Yorker.)

I’m not a New Yorker, but she’s a sharp gay woman with progressive views, and may well give Cuomo a run for the money. Did anyone notice the quick disappearance of the “rabid Bernie Sanders fans” question from our forum here? I was in the process of reading it when it vanished.
Was it posed by one of the trolls who created accounts today?
I’m not a New Yorker. I think she has a shot in the primary. I’m not so sure in the final if she could win. Which means people might not vote for her in the primary even if they want to. I definitely wouldn’t dismiss the possibility of her winning. New Yorker City people who I know tend to be socially very liberal, but fiscally lean concervative, so if she doesn’t seem fiscally savvy that might work against her even with Democrats. As you know the city tends to be blue, but the rest of the state has a lot of red.
The odds against her are severe. Cuomo’s credentials are pretty much unassailable. And he has NYC Democratic machinery in his corner.
Read the editorial in the NYTimes Sunday. Nixon is a new face, with zero political experience.
As we can clearly see from Trump, experience and knowledge actually matters.
Nixon might be the choice of the gay community, but we need someone who knows how to govern. Not a novice.

I disagree that Trump’s lack of experience makes him a problem. The fact that he’s a Republican, pushes a traditional Republican agenda, and happens to be a racist misogynist xenophobe are problems with Trump.

“Gay community”?
Keep in mind that Clinton ran on experience. She was the “most experienced”. How did people react? People have little faith in government and their leaders. Regardless of party, they have learned that experience = they get f*cked. They are not looking for experience. They are looking for a genuine disruption of the that experience.
The “experience” narrative is laughable to those on the left as well as those on the right. It’s neither a path towards election victory or a recipe for effecting the change that many desire and need.
I too would pick aptitude over experience. But Nixon’s problem in going up against Cuomo is that Cuomo is the gold standard for progressive talent. In fact, it puzzles me to hear that she’s challenging him.
