What hair straightening products can I use if I’m allergic to most of them?

Asked by MrsAliT (4points) March 24th, 2018 from iPhone

Hello! This might be a little long but please help! So I’ve always straightened my hair and I’ve never had a problem with allergies in my life. I’ve been using the OGX Brazilian Keratin Therapy shampoo and conditioner for a long time how on the days I straighten my hair. After that I put in the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine leave in conditioner, and then finally I just use the Suave Moroccan styling oil and suave keratin infusion serum for extra shine and hold. These products have always worked perfect for me and give me the stick straight look I like. But lately I’ve been getting eczema on my hands after I do my hair and come to find out I’ve developed allergies to a lot of ingredients they put in most shampoos! :(

Most of the ingredients that I react the worst to are any kind of sulfate or silicone or alcohol. And a few other ingredients like

Methylchloroisothiazolinone
Methylisothiazolinone
Cocamidopropyl Betaine

….so my question is is there any more natural
hair shampoos and products I can use to get the straight hair I want without so many irritating ingredients? Or at least not as many bad ingredients? I never realized that everything I use is FULL of these ingredients and my body must have just had enough of it!

I’m sorry if this is a bit complicated but I’m not really a beauty guru and I’ve used the same hair products as long as I’ve been straightening my hair! Lol :)

I’ve also been told to just leave my hair naturally curly but I really don’t want to. Please help! :(

Check out Lush’s hair straightening products. Lush uses mostly organic ingredients with names you can pronounce. They’re also really good about keeping the planet healthy.

While their products do come with quite a price tag, a little bottle goes a long way.

Advice from my wife (who currently works in cosmetics):

You might want to try Living Proof products. They’re not a specifically natural/organic company, but they use a lot of unusual, high quality ingredients that are less likely to cause you irritation.

If the price point is too high on those products, you might also look at Carol’s Daughter. This is an all-natural brand and should also be less likely to cause you irritation.
