Suppose you won a contest at work in which you get this Monday off with pay. What would you do?

This is just a hypothetical, for fun. So you won a contest at work, and you get to take this coming Monday off, with pay. You also get $100 in spending money. You don’t get to choose another day, it’s the first Monday coming up after you won the contest.

Do you go out and do something splurgy and fun? Or do you sleep in and lounge around the house all day? Or do you do something practical like taking care of chores and housework?

Would any of you try to get your spouse or a friend to take the day off and join you?

Assuming I wasn’t already on vacation and I won before I retired, I’d probably sleep in at first, but then get to the beach for a nice day of soaking up rays and then take my wife out for a nice dinner in the evening.

If it had to be this coming Monday, I would just use the extra day to get some more rest. I’m going through some minor medical stuff right now so I’m taking it easy this weekend.

On another weekend it’d be different. I rarely have a day apart from my boyfriend, so I usually spend such days doing some of my hobbies that are more solitary in nature or that he’s not interested in – birding, writing, etc.
