I can tell you how to solve the problem, but you won’t like it. You would reset it to factory settings, the by-product being that you would lose everything on the device.

@basstrom188 write down your phone number list and passwords and anything you want to keep before you reset your device.

Panic over it started working again.

Go to battery app and check which app was using the most battery time. Then remove and shut down the phone for a while. Restart phone and tomorrow re-install affecting app.
My “Gas Buddy” app hung while doing an update; it was using the most battery, I almost couldn’t keep up with battery use on a high amp charger in my car.

Back everything up on your phone incase this happens again. Send everything to your gmail account.
