Why are stupid people always so loud?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47069points) April 27th, 2018

A former jelly made this observation on FB, after watching a video of an obese, mouth breathing red neck attacking a 17 year old high school student for filming him as he verbally attacked an entire gathering of students who staged a walk out over the gun issue. Why are stupid people so loud?

Some people believe that the loudest wins.

The quiet ones – and believe me, there are stupid people who are quiet – don’t call attention to themselves. You only hear about the loud ones.

If you are loud anyone who opposes your view is drown out by your noise, so they think they win.
That and most people now a days don’t listen to anyone so being loud is the only way they feel people will listen.

It’s about self-constraint. Intelligence has little to nothing to do with how one choose to conduct him/herself in the environment. I have seen intelligent people that curses a lot, being loud, or even have behavior issue.

About the example you provided. It’s merely an opinion from someone’s casual observation, which bear no actual truth of the situation. I, myself, can believe that the student got what he/she deserve for filming someone without consent, heck, that’s even illegal.

Here is the video that prompted the discussion and the comment.

^ I see. Thanks for including the source. From what I see, the men have a reasonable excuse to confront the students. First of all, the students are, indeed, making noises in the neighborhood anyway. Second, any group of masses that wish to hold a public protest/seminar/demonstration, etc are required to get the permission from the local county before they can start their activities, not doing so will risk them get tangled by the law (at least that’s the law where I live so I’m sure civilized country like US also have similar law). Not to mention that the man has given them a warning not to take his picture (which they have no right whatsoever) and the resulting feud is the result of both parties. His own fault is that he landed the first physical contact from non-self defense cases.

There was only one man who confronted them. He was a belligerent asshole. The adult on the school side was willing to have the kids quiet down, but the redneck was so angry there was no reasoning or compromising with him. His behavior tells me he’s an abusive, violent man. There is some confusion over whether it was on school property or not. At any rate, the kids were well within their rights to be assembled, and they weren’t THAT loud. They weren’t nearly as loud as the redneck who came in and started a RIOT!
I think his bitch was about the topic of gun control, not about the “noise,”

^ Fair enough. But that still doesn’t excuse their unconsensual film-taking. Moreoever, I lament the fact that the kids’ activities weren’t supervised by assigned school representative, which can solve this issue easily in that situation, at least that should be the prequisite if the kids know that they will be representing the school for this public oration. Unauthorized public oration is never allowed nor is it encouraged by the school and government. Freedom of speech you have but there are still law pertaining to public order (and that supersede any individual’s right for public statement).

There was an adult there on the kid’s side! He kept trying to get things under control but the guy was just flipped out. And it was a perfectly orderly assembly until the redneck showed up and turned into into a riot. I’m sure it was authorized. I didn’t see anything that suggested it wasn’t. The cops showed up, then turned right around and left.

Dutchess_III's avatar

See the adult at 4:10 in the video. It may have been the principal.

Dutchess_III's avatar

And also, I can’t imagine that it was going to go on and on and on for _hours_or something. The guy was just looking for trouble.

But I do agree with the taking the video of the guy after he expressly told them not to. But they did, and there it is. I’m sure he could sue them for something, but they can sue him for assault.

There is no right to stop someone from filming in public. Consent is not needed.

There is no obligation to get permission to exercise free speech or to peacefully assemble.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I’m not so sure about that @zenvelo. The guy expressly asked the guy to stop and he didn’t. Isn’t that considered an invasion of privacy at that point?

zenvelo's avatar

^^^not out in public. You have no right to not be filmed being an asshole.

Dutchess_III's avatar

OK! Yeah, if there was some sort of law then a whole lot of people would be getting out of charges.

@zenvelo Now I wonder if taking someone’s picture in public restroom is also considered as legal in US since it’s in public after all. Also, where I live a gathering of masses for whatever purporse of speech that take place in public and affect the stability of public order is considered as public oration and as such will need permission from local county first as required by the law. If US is so different then I’m assuming people can freely have this ‘peaceful’ assemy for the expression of free speech anytime/anywhere they want in public places and other people have no right to intervene even though it affect them?

zenvelo's avatar

A bathroom (even a public bathroom) is not considered a public place.

There are ordinances about gatherings and demonstrations, but the law enforcement is very circumscribed about what they can enforce. One cannot impede traffic, one cannot trespass except one public places (like a park). And people cannot intervene over someone else speaking(although they can shout louder).
