I might have told this before on fluther.
I was driving north on I75 from Florida, and when we crossed into Georgia we stopped at the welcome center to go to the bathroom and get a map. It was around 4:00pm, and we had 2 more hours of driving to do that night, and another 8–9 hours the next day.
So, I go to the bathroom, and the stall has a purse holder on the wall behind the toilet, and I slipped my purse in there. After that we walked over to the main building, picked up some maps and travel books, and then continued north. An hour later we stopped for gas, and when I went to get my wallet, my purse wasn’t there!! I had left my whole bag in the bathroom. Since it was behind me, I had just walked out of the stall completely forgetting about it.
Night was already falling. My husband started heading back south. I told him not to. I was tired, and I didn’t want to head back, and I felt it was unsafe, because my husband was likely even more tired. I tried to call the welcome center and it was closed.
I called and cancelled all of my credit cards. Then I called the local police by the welcome center, and asked if there was some way for me to get in touch with the manager. They told me they would call her.
Next, I get a call from the manager, and she said she had my purse, and had left a message at my home phone number. I told my husband it’s fine to turn back around, but he wouldn’t. She said she would meet us back at the welcome center. It was already pitch black out. I didn’t want to go all the way back, and I didn’t want her to drive all the way back to work.
I lost the argument and we did meet her at the welcome center. My purse had all $400 that was in my husband’s money clip in my purse, my two pairs of sunglasses, one of which were Prada, and all my drugs (not worth anything, but people might steal them hoping they are) and all my credit cards. She wouldn’t take any money from me, and she didn’t have the name of the person who turned my purse into her.
