At home with your nuclear family do you eat family style, or fill your plate before it gets to the table?

I’m just curious. I’m talking the average daily routine, not special gatherings or holidays.

My MIL always puts everything out on the table, and it creates so many more dishes to clean. I try to avoid that. The good thing about it is if you want seconds you don’t have to get up.

There are other pluses and minuses.
