Who's your daddy?
If you could compare your father to a well known character from TV or movies, who would it be?
Also, if you had a lousy relationship with your father, what character would you have liked for a father?
Just keeping dads in mind, cuz you know what’s coming.

My dad was a lot like the dad in Father Knows Best. After work, reading the paper while Huntley Brinkley were on, with a drink and a cigarette. Available for one or two sentence feed back on the problem of the day.
I was never that close to my dad because he was very strict & my Mom ran interference between us. Off hand I can’t think of a TV dad to compare mine to!!!
IF I had to pick the one I’d like, I think it would have been Ward Cleaver of Leave It To Beaver fame. He was strict yet loving. Much like in my household, Mom tempered him when he was coloring out of bounds so June would have had to come with him!!!
Having said all that, I don’t think I would have really wanted a different dad because the interaction I had with him has made me a much STRONGER person!!! I would have NEVER been the strong woman I turn out to be had Ward been my dad!!!
No idea. I don’t know of any TV dads who were away for half the year.
@Darth_Alger, I included movies.
The Sound Of Music, maybe?
I don’t know of a TV character that was close to my Dad. Mine was usually working hard , taking care of kids, house, sick wife, job, meals. Things were always a bit out of control and on the edge of falling. But he pulled it off.
Thanks Dad!
My parents were the children of immigrants and grew up in Harlem back when it had a substantial Jewish immigrant population. My father worked his way out of poverty by starting a small chair upholstery company. Sometimes I think of my father and me like Frasier Crane and his father on television. My father had a practical intelligence and I had book learning. He regularly beat me at checkers, and I had trouble explaining to him why an object will fall over if its center of gravity is no longer over its base.
My Dad was a slightly less noble, more grumpy Atticus Finch with a bit more of a twinkle. There was a bit of Winnie the Pooh in him too – his food was very important to him. I appreciate him more in retrospect than maybe I did at the time because my mother was such a formidable presence in the house.
Dad was a kind of a Fred MacMurry type I guess. Friendly and personable and the kids on the block all thought he was pretty cool. They even commented at times that he was like the TV dads.
My dad wasn’t exactly like Archie Bunker, but he was darn close.
He drove a semi though, so we didn’t see him much.
Uncle Bill was what I wanted for a dad.
He didn’t have to be perfect, just willing to try.
OMG & was Uncle Bill easy to look at!!!—-laughing—
Tim Allen from “Tool Time”.
Ray from Everybody Loves Raymond
Awww, most of you had neat daddys!
My dad is Tyrion Lannister. Smart but drunk all the time.
