you want us to give you ideas, for an idea you would like develop?¿?
The best way to develop new ideas is to brainstorm. You throw every crazy idea out there, no matter how off the wall it seems. From all the crazy ideas you can piece together pieces that might work. The most diverse people are the best ones to brainstorm together. It also is good to take ideas from different industries. I am in the apartment industry but some of my best ideas have come from the retail industry. Presenting the “problem” to a group like fluther would be a great way to find a diverse group to help you come up with the new idea you’re looking for.
…so we can exploit it for ourselves.
“90% perspiration; 10% inspiration.” Did Beethoven say that? Too rushed to Google.
@gailcalled – excellent response. Now, what are the things that one should perspire with?
Lots of people do their best thinking whilst perched upon the can.
@AC: one ringy-dingy, two ringy-dingies.
@Ideabrian; You chose the name; you think of the ideas. MY cup runneth over.
There really is no reason to re-invent the wheel if you don’t have to. Unless you are in a industry with trade secrets that sell to the international community why not do what’s working for someone else? In the apartment industry I am always sharing my ideas with people in the same industry that operate in different markets.
@AC: I was thinking of AGB. The light just came on.
Let your mind drift, when you catch yourself smiling, what are you thinking about?
If it has to do with string theory or nanotechnology I am out of ideas.
@Judi
I agree you don’t have to re-invent the wheel.
You can follow in the footsteps of Google, they did not invent search, they made it better. Look at how you might be able to improve on an existing product, etc.
You won’t be able to identify the good ideas, until you’ve seen all the bad ones. So create a mind map and brainstorm all possible ideas, no matter how silly or not related they are.
Good luck!

my future idea would be to build and improve on toys, like a toymaker.
Interesting to read this thread and apply it to the world of fine arts. Very few new things ever happen there. Once someone does something slightly interesting, three hundred other people, in descending “generations” like a pyramid scheme, exploit and truly love
the notion they felt connection to. And suddenly you have hundreds of galleries full of, for example, children’s dresses flattened and overpainted on big panels,
with resin on top, and perhaps some text. And maybe some block-printed images floating in the background. Just an example.
