@Dutchess_III No, Its not a homework question as I am not a student, but you can consider this as a question with an expected opinion based answer. I just want to download and watch the most entertaining movies over this weekend. I need people’s opinion on it.
What kinds of things do you like? Small independents? Blockbusters? Superheroes?
@canidmajor I don’t like superhero movies. I do not rate entertainment based on the movies budget/collection. So, I am talking about movies based on pure enterment factor. E.g. movies like Baby’s day out never disappoints me every time I watch it after a few years gap.
Are there more such evergreen entertainers made in Hollywood? (Budget/gener doesn’t matter as I could even be a superhero movie like the Dark Knight).
Home alone you might like.
Try a classic like Wizard of Oz or Gone With the Wind.
The Guns of Navarone was quite entertaining!!
Another of my faves was “My Favorite Year”. A sleeper about a TV writer in the 50s who befriends a fading swashbuckler star loosely based on Errol Flynn. Good movie!
My five favorite films:
Citizen Kane
Casablanca
City Lights
The Best Years Of Our Likves
Manhattan
Those are the best films ever made, but that’s not what you were asking for.
The most entertaining film ever made is my 6th favorite:
Raiders Of The Lost Ark.
It is the perfect movie.
Yeah..Gods must be crazy..both parts are thoroughly entertaining!! How could I forget that!!! If you like comedy + action and fan of Jackie Chan then you can choose “Rush Hour” series. MIB is another one.
I don’t know what could be considered the greatest. Some of my favorites are Jumanji 2 Out of the Jungle. That is hilarious.
Sea Biscuit. I love that it’s a true story.
Apollo 13 . Ditto
Sully. Ditto.
I second The Gods Must Be Crazy. I thought no one but me had ever heard of it @zenvelo . Gods must be Crazy 2 is almost better than the first one.
Secretariat.
Oh…for a new one, a sleeper, try 16 Blocks. It’s takes a bit of getting into but when you’re done you’ll want to watch it again.
Cool Runnings. True Story
Sunset Boulevard.
The satirical nature of Hollywood and film stardom is extremely entertaining to watch, and the dialogue is sharp as well. Plus, the cinematography is first rate.
A Night at the Opera is one of my most entertaining films.
These are a few of my favorites:
The Sound of Music
Singing in the Rain
Young Frankenstein
Psycho
Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory
Rear Window
Something’s Gotta Give
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
I’ll second two of the above, Sunset Boulevard and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Great movies.
My favorite films that I also think others would likely be entertained by include:
Young Frankenstein – a hilarious comedy masterpiece
Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N. – a surprisingly spectacular (for its date) fun age-of-sail romping adventure with some amazing ship battles
North by Northwest – probably my favorite Alfred Hitchcock adventure film – smart, fun, and charming
The Three Musketeers (1973) – the best film version (well, and the only one I’ve seen that I actually like) of the Three Musketeers. Great fight choreography and humor.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid – an extremely well-done outlaw Western adventure film
The first Star Wars film – in my opinion, also the best. Compare the way this one is made to almost any aspect of any other Star Wars film, to find my opinion on what is inferior about the other Star Wars film. Message me if you want further explanation about what I mean and/or why I am right. ;-P
I like suspense films so I like The Game with Michael Douglas.
