The a few weeks ago a french girl (19) was visiting her mother who lived in B.C.
The French tourist went for a jog on the beach, and accidentally wondered into the u.s no signs or anything pointing out the border, she was detained by U.S.A border patrols and questioned for 2 weeks.
The border on the beach is not marked with any signs, and crossing without authorization is illegal, (I get that).
But to to keep her for 2 weeks is ridiculous.
I think they could have found out this was an accident, maybe fined her and been done with it in a few hours.
What is your opinion?

Overreaction to the point that the Border Guards should be fired. All they had to do was tell her to turn around and run back.
Totally agree @zenvelo , another point I am not against them questioning her,it is their job but to detain her for 2 weeks is way over reacting.
Trump agenda !
Why didn’t they turn his mother around? ? ?
Idiotic. If it’s an issue post some fucking signs. Money probably went into some politicians pocket. I’m sure some morons are cheering on the border guard for keeping us safe from fearsome French invaders.
Yeah, a cute 19year old teen ager ,a real terrorist.
People walk along that beach it could have happened to anyone, at least post a sign saying border.
I don’t know the specifics. But it seems ridiculous.
I posted a news link to this a few posts above @MrGrimm888 .
The French teenager said she didn’t understand what was going on. I think she speaks for all of us.
That is their job. If you are around a country’s border be careful.
Speak for yourself…................not “all of us.” @flutherother
@SQUEEKY2 . I meant that I wasn’t there. I don’t know if she may have done something that brought more suspicion on her than the articles reveal. It’s possible that she resisted, or somehow got into trouble with the agents she encountered.
@MollyMcGuire I have no problem with them detaining her and asking questions, but come on they should have had it cleared up in a few hours, not 2 weeks.
Also the border had no signs on the beach at all, not one.
Knowing people like to walk and jog along a beach you would think there should be at least a sign marking the border.
Well @MrGrimm888 What I heard on the news she wasn’t reported for resisting or mouthing off to the border cops, she accidentally wondered into the US, and with no signs pointing it out it could have happened to anyone of us.
How do you think the states would have reacted if it was the other way around?
That’s what I heard too.
Uh. The states? Reacted, if it were a US citizen?
Pretty upset, if it wasn’t legit. Probably.
I mean, I’m a US citizen, and it smells, to me. I think it was probably overkill. Or maybe some bad people involved.
I’m just saying that you can’t just walk over a border, and say “my bad, I’ll just turn around.” We agree on that. But I was just saying that people can talk themselves into a problem. I wasn’t sure if this is one of those cases.
Ya know what gets me is I don’t think either country will put a sign on that beach pointing out the border, so the chance of this happening again is very likely.
Lol! They probably won’t! That might seem silly, to some. But that’s how shit goes…
It’s all b.s. Hells Bells, I have a friend from NY City who told me he used to hike the Northeastern woods and wandered into Canada a few times unknowingly. He said Canadians would be more like, yeah, another dumb ass American lost in the woods, big deal. What else is on the news?
Yeah a cute 19 year old French tourist in a jogging outfit, those big bad border cops must have thought she was an Isis general.
You would think normally if it was a rational person,“Miss, you have mistakenly jogged into the USA and you have crossed an International border, turn around and jog back NOW!”
But she may have been a member of the resistance to Der Furher Trump! The SS has to follow ze orters!
