Does decaf instant tea act as a diuretic?

Asked by JLeslie (65719points) June 30th, 2018 from iPhone

I’m pretty sure decaf tea made the real way with a tea bag is a diuretic, but I don’t know if the instant stuff has the same properties.

I tried googling and a lot of what came up was questionable whether it was reliable.

I’m trying to lower my blood pressure naturally.

Any other foods or drinks you want to suggest?

Water by itself is diuretic.

I don’t care for the flavor of decaf instant tea; so I have to agree with @si3tech in saying water would be your best bet!!!

I like the decaf instant tea, that’s why I’m asking.

I’ve always heard that caffeine is a diuretic. If that’s the case then decaf tea is about as diuretic as water is.

^^Caffeine is a diuretic, but tea has other properties that are diuretucs also. I just don’t know if the process to make it instant kills it. Plus, once a person is addicted to the caffeine (becomes accustomed to it from daily use) the diuretic effect of caffeine seems to wane significantly.

If you like it, try it. You’ll find out pretty quickly.
