I have been relatively inactive for a while now, and I’m wondering how everyone is doing.
What’s new and exciting?

I may be one of the people you don’t care for & consequently you’d not be interested in what I have to say, but hey, bound to happen on an open question site :D
Very excited with England football team reaching semi final of the World Cup not been that far since 1990 & not won the whole thing since 1966 so the country is on a high.
Oh & yeah we got a new pup Border Collie called him Buddy he’s 6 month now, very energetic & a bundle of fun.
Exciting good or exciting bad? I went parasailing for the first time the other day. Exciting good. My little dog tangled with a bigger dog that same day and ended up at the vet getting stapled back together. Exciting bad.
While @ucme ‘s team is still having to play two matches to win the World Championship (come on, you Brits, beat those last two European countries!), we, the Dutch, have already done it; we are the World Champions Football!!!
In robotic football, that is…...
Yesterday I have driven my first American muscle car (‘68 Chevelle).
I think that’s a V8?
Man, the sound of that…..:-)
Very, very exciting stuff!
@rebbel my first car was a 1969 Chevelle. 350 cu in engine…V8. Lots of fun. I lost my license in that car….
My son just left after a great visit here with his wife and 22 month old. The baby’s first time. And I will be spending more time out there with them in California with a room to stay in nearby.
Nothing going on here. Boring, boring, boring.
Thinking about leaving my job has gotten me a little excited, though. That’s about it! :(
Scaling down our farm as husband finally told me he just cannot handle everything himself.
He is 60 and handling 130 acres with cows and hogs and meat chickens is was too much for one person. We are selling 2 tracts of our land-about 27 acres each. That will leave the house and land that it is on about 47 acres. He is OC so just taking care of land goes way beyond what most would do. He has to have the exterior(in front of the fences) mowed and weed eated between each post. Its a never ending process. Thinking him just having to do the 47 acres will suit him much better and we will finally have a little money in the bank. We are selling down our cow herd from 70 to about 30 but cow prices are so low we feel like we are giving them away:(. No more 10,000$ for hay every year. Also selling one of our tractors. I have been praying this would come into his mind to do this as you can’t make it your decision because he has put in so much work for the past 16 year on all the 130 acres and it is hard to let that go. Just maybe after that sells we could sell our house and move into a smaller one with a shop where he could tinker around with things. He has to have something to do all the time….but here’s hoping our tracts of land sell quickly and we can start the scaling down part. If he dies I have no idea what to do with all of this….he works from sunrise to dark almost every day. Good thing we have two sons who could help me. But yes I am happy change is coming!
@MooCows I am very happy for you; I know the farm has been a worry for you! It sounds like some better times are coming for your family.
Having an important guest in a couple of weeks, trying to prepare for that.
I awoke feeling good this morning & I find that exciting!!!
@MooCows – I’m sure it’s all happening because of that bounced check..jk..) Good to know that things are coming back on track for ya! As far as I’m concerned ditto what @Demosthenes said minus the last symbol..it’s part of life and am trying to get a grip on reality currently.
My daughter is preparing to go to Africa to work on the African Mercy, a big hospital ship that gives free medical care to the poor. She will be gone for two years. It’s very exciting!
@MooCows That’s great! I hope the transition is easy, and works as you planned. I have a friend whose parents’ lease out 20 acres to a farmer for about 30 years now. I don’t know if that’s a possibility too as your husband gets older for some income.
All negative “excitement” except for the thunder and lightning today which I adore.
Me too! I wish we had some @Aster!
I love woodworking. And by extension building fences. Now that we are full-blast into summer I called around to get some fence-building work.
I was really close to a friend of mines parents in high school. He would be off smoking weed and I would watch movies with his parents.
But 25 years later I see them more than I see him. And his parents live 5 blocks from my mom.
So they want a new fence in the backyard. And I got the job. So that will kill a month and I should get a nice tan too. And $$$$
I’m swimming in the sea of uncertainty right now. My goal is to get a stable job that provide me enough money to pay the bills so that I’m comfortable enough to focus on creating art. But the journey there is like a roller coaster. I want to start my own business at home because I don’t fit in a company’s culture and so that I have freedom to organize my time, which is very important if I want to both make art and work. But my parents want me to work in a public school to get more reputation and stability. A school is too restrictive for me and, though I’m not so sure, it seems that people are coming to realize that teachers in public schools are overrated. They only choose to learn with someone with real competence, regardless of their professional background. Self-employment comes with a lot of benefit and responsibility, and I’m just getting started. Lots of things have happened, from a lost girl who just wants to get out of college to some zealous adult females wanting to pass an exam as soon as possible. I’m on a hell of a ride here, building up my reputation and learning everything I need to start a business.
@AshLeigh How about you? What interesting thing has happened in your life?
The most interesting thing that happened to me recently was a conversation with a busboy, who spoke rather eloquently about corruption and its possible origins. Very interesting.
Origins of corruption? It came into being the instant we came into being.
@ucme glad to see you’re still around, and even happier to hear about that pup!
@LadyMarissa wonderful news, yes!
@Mimishu1995 I hope you find the right job!
A lot is going on currently, actually, thanks for asking. My wedding is in 17 days. All of my best friends fly up in 12 days to be here for it. I’m working on getting my house in order before their arrival, planning a wedding, and working my day job while trying to find time for my art as well.
But things are well in my world. I have a job that I love, a fiance who helps me in every way he can, and supports me in my art and career. I just got a new car. Overall, I’d say I’m pretty happy!
@Seawulf I can so imagine that, after my ride in one last week.
Must have been a blast to own such beast!
London protesting is pretty cool. I WANT TO SEE THE BLIMP!!!
