Vice President Al Gore said that he was the first year after Bush went into office. He also had to provide his ID before being allowed on the plane. At that point in time, he was traveling as a private citizen on a commercial airline.

World leaders have “private” planes, so I doubt they are frisked in any way. I really don’t know what they go through to get in a plane. If they fly commercial I’m sure they have to submit tithe usual security procedures to some extent.

Im trying to remember if I went through security when I used to fly military Space A out of a military base. It’s so long ago.

When I flew on a corporate jet there was zero security.

I can’t imagine that a foreign leader would fly in a commercial airliner. The security required would be prohibitive.

I used to think that Air Force One was a small private plane, but I just saw the previous version at the Ronald Reagan Museum. It is a full scale Boeing 707 outfitted to accommodate the president and staff.

*^It’s a commercial size jet, but I lands either at military bases, or if it lands at a regular airport I would assume the passengers don’t go through regular security. Some airports share runways with the executive airport, so even the executive airport has enough runway length to handle larger jets.

Our president usually leaves from Andrew’s Air Force base when leaving from DC. My parents flew out of there last year I think, I can ask what security was like for civilians if anyone is interested. My dad is retired military.

I don’t get frisked when going on an airplane or when I went to the White House for a tour, so I would not think that diplomats or dignitaries would be.

The State Department has protocol experts that accompany foreign digntaries that visit US Government locales, and vouch for them.

I get frisked, because I opt out of the X-ray.

I get frisked because it is impossible for me to raise my left arm. Fortunately, I don’t have to fly very often!!!
