Who participated in the Build-A-Bear event yesterday?
Deary me. After receiving a text msg. yesterday that my watch was repaired and ready for pick-up, I headed to the mall. It was packed with children, strollers, and parents queueing in long lines.
The news reports today said that despite the company’s planning, it was a bit of a disaster. The BAB company seems to be attempting to address the issue.
I’m just curious if anyone experienced it first-hand, and if so, what it was like.

One of my friends drove an hour away, with her two kids, and got there early in the morning, stood in line until 9:00 am when an announcement was made that those not yet inside the store were out of luck.
She said there were hundreds of people who were turned away and they were not happy.
Luckily, my friend ended up taking her kids for ice cream and a museum, since they were already in another town.
I didn’t go but I know someone who did. They said that it was chaos at its worst. According to our news, they under anticipated the number of people willing to stand in line for a naked bear. Before noon, the demand was much greater than the inventory; so they counted the inventory & counted the number of people in line. When the 2 numbers matched, they told everybody behind that point to go home because they wouldn’t have any bears by the time they got to them. They gave discount coupons to any that were sent home. In order to get a bear you were required to give a name, home phone number, or email addy. I don’t know if the coupons required the same…never heard about that. NONE of the bears purchased came with their cute little clothes & the clothes had to be purchased separately. It was a very effective free advertising gimmick because each bear sold was sold at a loss…hence a tax writeoff.
