Do Youtube parents abuse their kids?
I’m desperately needing a break from the “T” word!!! When bored, I often go to Youtube, enter a keyword, & then begin to link hop to see where it will take me. I’ve found some strange & interesting videos doing this. The ones that concern me are the ones with small children trusting their parents to take care of them & the parents watch with camera in hand laughing when their child slips on ice hitting their head as they fall…or the ones watching their child flip & fall face first onto the floor from standing in a chair. The list goes on & on about the things parents watch happening to their child as they squeal “I got that on video…guess who is going to be on Youtube” This always leaves me wondering how many of these kids are actually harmed in the making of the video & we just never hear about it. Seeing a child ignored by their parents while unknowingly trusting them to take care of them leaves me feeling sad!!! Any thoughts???

Some of those parents need to be investigated.
@Dutchess_III I agree!!! One tiny toddler was just learning to walk & her parents turn on the camera, put her down just before the icy patch, proceed to watch her feet go straight out from under her & hit her head pretty damn hard all while laughing at her. That kind of crap simply drives me crazy!!!
The other one is the kid on a snow covered roof being stupid while mom or dad records it for posterity!!!
For the future..not ALL youtube parents abuse their kids. I have video of my grandkids on Youtube.
Seems like normal parenting to me. Kids need to learn, the hard way, the effects of physics.
The only difference is that the footage, which traditionally would have been a VHS in the cupboard, is now being uploaded to Youtube.
@Dutchess_III My complaint isn’t against ALL parents…ONLY those who keep recording their kids possibly getting hurt without even checking on them!!! Still, IF you are one of those people, I think you should be checked on too!!! IF I was ignoring my kids, I’d turn myself in!!!
I know. I got that. But Fluther is super picky about things like that. And of course I’m not one of those parents. I also can’t access my youtube account to show you the kinds of things I post, like the geese chasing the kids at the park a few years ago! It was so funny.
Those are the ones I enjoy!!! I might have seen that one & just didn’t know it was you.
