How hurt were you as an American to see other Americans cheer and vote for someone who yelled Mexicans are rapists?

Not so sure if all those who voted for Trump and continue to support him hate and think Mexicans are rapists but supporting him for his other agendas in line with theirs while ignoring his ruthless nature comes across as unAmerican. Does this hurt?

It would be nice if Fluther would be a little more constructive. Trump is a bigot, good god, yes we know. Enough already. I’m not the only one tired of hearing about the man.
It’s one of the pitfalls of Fluthering for months and years dedicatedly, you suffer seeing the same basic questions.
That’s not what he said, though.
Hillary didn’t say all Trump supporters were deplorable either.
Each group heard what they wanted to hear. That’s how politics works.
If you support Trump, there’s nothing he could say that would change your mind. If you don’t support Trump, same thing. There’s really no bridging the gap here. I’m just looking forward to it all being over.
@Demosthenes Yes you are correct. This is what he said.
“They are not our friend, believe me. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
@Demosthenes She said “half of them are a basket of deplorables” As far as I can tell most Trump voters were “not Hillary” voters. Had the left rallied behind Sanders or basically anyone else we would not have Trump.
That’s what Trumpers do…
They’re mindless sheep. They love bullshit sandwiches…
I saw a quote the other day, ‘The only thing you need to gain an audience is gasoline and a lie.’ Yep. That’s pretty much what we have on our hands these days.
I echo the bandit. Nothing the jackass says should hurt your feelings. Things erupting from the mouth of Trump are equivalent to odors emanating from your toilet.
How others vote is not my business. That’s American. Attacking people you assume you know something about because you think you know who they voted for is pure insanity.
You’re either intentionally or ignorantly asking a misleading question by leaving out the fact that he was talking about illegal immigrants.
How is that any different than what you’re accusing Trump of doing?
^Trump rarely makes that clarification. If he does, it’s just to make sure he doesn’t look full on racist. Sorry. It’s very different.
@MrGrimm888 Lmfao, are you kidding? His entire campaign was centered around building the wall and securing the borders. Did you bother to watch the entire speech? Or was a 2 min clip all you needed to assume he must be “racist”?
(FFR, Mexican isn’t a race)
^No. Trump’s rhetoric is CONSTANTLY laced with racism. ALL from his own mouth. It’s not my fault that you can’t realize that the only difference between an illegal Mexican immigrant, and a legal one, is a piece of paper. Are you seriously inferring that Trump will change his thinking that they are rapists, and murderers, the second they are granted citizenship? (FFR, our POTUS only sees white/Christian, and other…)
@cheebdragon Like Trump himself, you miss the point that it doesn’t matter that he’s talking about illegals. When he claims that Mexico is exporting its murderers and rapists here as though the country empties its jails at our borders, he’s lying! But worse than the interminable lying is the constant and unnecssary comments that border on racism, sexism, you name it. The comments are bad enough, but the proof of how much trouble we’re in lies in the fact that the fool does not even realize that his comments are offensive and insulting.
I’m probably in the minority but open borders are asinine. Illegal immigrants are here illegally and until we change the laws immigrants should be processed as the law states. Since the law is obviously not working um… we should work to change it. I do not support just letting illegals in and giving them any benefits that taxpayers have earned. Sorry if the rich left wing yuppies in cali will have to cut their own grass.
That said what brings people here is not simple, some of it is heart breaking and some of it will piss you off. This is certainly not a binary issue and we should not treat it as such.
I’m of the opinion that the vast majority of those people are good people, and would make an excellent contribution to our society. I haven’t heard any liberals say we should just wave them all through. But we can treat them like asylum seekers, not criminals. Especially their children. Once Trump decided to halt the family separations, it became crystal clear that there was no plan to reunite these children with their parent(s.) If the nation hadn’t forced Don to change, who knows what would have happened.
Treating these people like POWs, or criminals, is unacceptable, and abhorrent.
Concentration camps for the kids was the plan all a long to punish the parents that are trying to get out of Honduras.
@ARE_you_kidding_me are you proud of TRUMP separating 3 and 4 year olds with no plan to re-unite them with their asylum seeking parents? ? ?
@Tropical_Willie Why are you trying to act like this has never happened before. Of course it has. And if he had not backed down the immigration train would have slowed. It was already slowing. There is no problem arresting people who illegally cross. If they have kids with them they should expect their kids will not go to jail with them.
It has happened when KNOWN drug runners came across the border NOT people with no history that were asking asylum. They jailed everyone !
Trump’s view is inflict pain on everyone, before he got in office ICE would release asylum seekers and give them a court date.
It was just, “Take the kids”!
I think the rest of the world could start doing this to Americans and see what happens. ‘There seems to be something amiss with the paperwork, Sir. You and your wife, please go with this armed gentleman and that team will be taking your children somewhere else. Where? Oh, no, we can’t tell you that. When will you see them again? *Laughs loudly. ’
^Good call. One of the good things about America used to be, we took care of our own. You can’t just get imprisoned in some foreign land. Our people will at least try to get you out. Now, we screw everyone, American, or otherwise…
“are you proud of TRUMP separating 3 and 4 year olds with no plan to re-unite them with their asylum seeking parents? ? ?”
Who would be? There is nothing to be “proud” of in the border crisis. As I mentioned the laws need changing but until they do… it’s the law of the land for better or worse. There are all kinds of issues letting illegals in. Personally I had my identity stolen by an illegal. Many are good people just trying to find a better life and I respect that but… there has to be some due process, a streamlined pipe for legal immigration and harsh penalties for cirumventing said process.
“Harsh” penalties? Why? Nobody is opposing a vetting process. I hear conservatives bitching about the volume of immigration, versus the amount of personnel required to process them. Cry me a river. Not my problem. Shouldn’t be asylum seekers’ problem either. If Trump wants to be tough on the borders, he needs to come up with the funding for it to work right, not just start throwing people in camps, or turning them away. If funding is an issue, and the immigration issue is SO vital to national security, then he shouldn’t have done his tax cut for the wealthy. Or increased military spending, or started a trade war with THE WHOLE PLANET.
I know how to increase tax revenue. Put a hurry on getting these immigrants vetted, and get them into the system. The faster we get them legalized, the faster we will benefit from their being part of the team.
A lot of very simple fixes available. But the GOP/conservatives have to decide between greed, and national security(keeping brown people out.)
@MrGrimm888 So true. The Russian puppet initially wanted to cut a deal with the Dems but clear as sunshine he would rather save himself than be a man. Now he just wants chaos along with all of his cohorts, here and in the Kremlin.
Legal and illegal immigrants are being treated like subhumans by some Americans and that makes them undoubtedly deplorable.
