What would the next trend in Hollywood be?

Asked by mazingerz88 (29258points) July 19th, 2018 from iPhone

Superhero movies. Didn’t see that one coming as billion dollar earners. What could be next? Would there be a next or is it all superhero movies from here to blockbuster eternity?

Presidential boxing or any world leader come to that.
Trump/Putin/Kim Jong Un/Macron/May…actually them not actors.

Let’s try 3D for the fourth time (or was it fifth?).

Hopefully producing less crap.

More failed attempts and creating a “cinematic universe”.

Holy crap but that is a good question!
Since movies and TV began, almost every single genre has been covered. Thoroughly!!!
I think more fantasy, more super hero stuff.

@zenvelo Wouldn’t that be nice? : )

It used to be that in spy thrillers the Russians were mostly the bad guys that America was fighting. Maybe they will go back to bad guy Russians thanks to their meddling in our election.

The next trend won’t be topic, or genre, it will be presentation.
They are going to bring back sense-surround.
The big money makers will be movies with scenes featuring popcorn, hot dogs, and chocolate, because instant gratification waits in the lobby.

@Patty_Melt No matter what was on the screen I would not get up in the middle of the movie to get something to eat. Maybe they need intermissions so people have time to get up without missing any screen content.
(I still wouldn’t do it but some would.)

Sense-surround isn’t just on the screen. You also smell and feel it.
Of course not everyone would get up, or even at the same time for those who do, but it would put a definite rise in impulse sales.
I sat through a fifteen minute film once. Man, was I wanting strawberries after!
