Would you like to watch female version of James Bond movies?
If so who will be your choice for the lead role?

Robin Wright.
Because she looks like “The Boss” from Metal Gear Solid 3.
This may be a crazy choice, but I actually think Nathalie Emmanuel might be able to pull it off if they used makeup to make her about 10-years older. I think she can pull off the dialogue and the British cheekiness (being English herself). She’s also fit enough for the action. If the script was good I think she could nail it. Unfortunately I think the script would probably suck (as most do these days)—see female Ghostbuster reboot.
Lee Curtis…, Jamie Lee Curtis.
That would be Atomic Blonde…
My first thought is someone built like an MMA fighter, but then I think of how good Keri Russell has been as a Russian spy in The Americans. She does all the James Bond things – she has gadgets, she fights hand-to-hand, she guns down foes, she beds men whenever she wants. And also of course Felicity Jones and Daisy Ridley kicking ass in the Star Wars movies.
So that opens up the possibilities in my mind. Hmmm. I think it should go to someone who isn’t already a headliner. James (Jne?) Bond doesn’t require a big star to fill theater seats.
Possibilities here – this list is 7 years old, so it’s actually British actresses under 37 – IMDB – British actresses
^What if she doesn’t have to be British?
I kind hate most of the things that have been done to Bond films since the earlier ones, so probably not. If someone could not do an annoying job of an over-the-top female-protagonist spy film, then great.
But I think the Bond franchise itself is messed up already even if it were still trying to be somehow James Bond…
A re-boot continuity where it’s trying to re-hash the same Bond character for the sixth time… but now it’s Jane Bond… leaves me unhopeful that whoever would be trying that would do a good job, and it already seems annoying from the start, unless it’s a Saturday Night Live skit…
No, it would be an abomination & before the “sexist” comments kick in…not about that.
I’m all for revitalising roles & love the idea of a black Hermione in The Cursed Child & even the girl set to play Dr. Who, she was excellent in Broadchurch & also Attack the Block.
James Bond though, is different, would be like having a female Tarzan or a guy playing Lara Croft.
Nah leave well alone & give it to Tom Hardy, inevitably his some time real soon.
Will the female Bond sleep with a variety of men in order to do espionage?
Will she be suave?
Will she drive fancy cars?
WIll the Moneypenny role be a male, and will flirting take place?
Either they do it right, all the way, or not at all.
The plot of the movie should be:
The original james bond has gone rogue, and she is sent to kill him.
Bond here, Jaime Bond. James is my brother.
Uh. Not interested. There are plenty of movies that may as well be female Bond movies already.
I’m still trying to get over why they made a female Ghostbusters. Changing roles to females, just to do it, is dumb to me. I guess it’s supposed to be empowering to females or something. I would find original, well done movies, would be more empowering..
I’d like to see Gina Carano kick the shit out of some asshole male villians, but I wouldn’t bet on her having a British accent in her acting tools.
Not if they’e produced by men, because men will make it all about how sexy she is, not whether she is competent to play the role.
@Dutchess_III Interestingly, Bond films ARE produced by a woman. Barbara Broccoli is one of the controlling members of EON productions, who owns the right to Bond films.
The only bond films I’m really familiar with are from the 70’s. I doubt women produced those, but I could be wrong.
@Dutchess_III In the ‘70s the company was run by Barbara’s father.
Oh @rebbel, you’re so conservative.
He was addressing my point that more than likely, in the 70’s, James Bond wasn’t produced by women.
I understood. Just taking the piss out of a friend.
That would be awesome. Kate Blanchett can act and wear the hell out of a suit.
Why not create new female characters instead of appropriating male ones. That just reeks of laziness and political correctness.
That said it would be fine to just have a female spy take on 007. That would probably work well. She would of course need a completely new personality for it to work at all. Debra Messing is my pick
To me, Bond is:
– beautiful locations
– high class settings, fancy clothes
– spying and spy gadgets
– evil plots
– sexy characters
– beating up bad guys
That’s how I came up with Atomic Blonde as the female version of Bond.
It’s super spy gadgets mostly. Beautiful, sexy women (because men were directing.) And Paul McCartney singing.
@Dutchess_III The men are sexy too. Nothing’s sexier than Sean Connery as James Bond. Sex sells to both sexes.
@janbb And let’s not forget Jaws.
Not the shark.
Yes, it does, but for different reasons. Connery makes women feel safe. It doesn’t make me want to have sex, though.
Sean Connery sexy? hahha… You’ve obviously not met him. Interesting, sure. Sexy, no.
Could it be that that is a subjective matter?
Oh I think Sean Connery was extremely sexy in his Bond day’s. I thought he was one who got sexier as he got older, too.
And if you have met him, and recently, it’s important to know he wasn’t always 87 years old.
but he always looked like it.
