WHAT is your opinion on this "Ben and Jerry's" ice cream?
So I ordered some Indian delivery, and saw that the only dessert they had was this ice cream.
So I ordered a tub of it, due to the hot weather.
And it was just awful.
Disgustingly sweet beyond measure.
I ended up melting half of it in the kitchen sink.
How are is that brand popular at all?

Don’t like it.
I like Dairy Queen.
All that other shit is to expensive and full of fat and fillers.
I’m a fan of Breyers Chocolate. TBH, I’ve never tasted B&J’s to know what it taste like. Here I can only buy B&J’s by the pint & I can buy 2 half gallons (or equivalent rip off) for the same price as 1 pint of B&J’s. NONE of my friends like B&J’s for much the same reasons you listed; so, I will probably be dead before I break down & even try B&J’s!!!
There are many different varieties of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and the ones I have tried have been quite sweet and specially-targeted for specific tastes. If someone especially likes the particular flavor, they can be good if you only eat a moderate amount.
So, you’d want to get a flavor you especially like and then eat only as much as doesn’t overdo your appetite.
I’ve enjoyed Caramel Sutra (has globs of caramel in it) and Half-Baked (has uncooked cookie dough in it) in moderation.
I used to have a favorite flavor, but it was discontinued. Ever since then, I’ve been largely uninterested in B&Js. Other flavors seem to be loaded with caramel (which I don’t like in ice cream) and various chunks and swirls that I’m not interested in. Give me plain old rocky road any day :)
We really have no way of knowing what flavor you got or if the Ben & Jerry’s purveyed by an Indian restaurant in Germany is at all the same as that sold in the US.
American corporate/industrial food products are often made differently for different foreign markets.
