Realistically speaking, how many tv channels do you need?

My cable service advertises that it provides 200 channels and it probably correct when you include the music channels. But for the most part I could get by with less than a dozen. How many do you need to be satisfied?

One would be enough if I controlled the programming.
Zero, just the internet, Netflix, Hulu, and HBO Go.
2 News channels
2 movie/ TV streaming channels
2 travel channels
1 cooking channel
2 nature channels
Smithsonian channel
What Stanley said, only my choices.
Just…one.. more. PBS, both local channels, weather network, cbc,
I only need THREE!!! I have 2 channels that I watch daily & 1 channel that I watch one show twice a year. Now that I’m thinking about it, I really only need TWO as the I can watch the third on streaming. I only keep my cable because I get a better price & service on my WiFi.
Channels? You mean those things that play on a fixed schedule and are filled with ads and station announcements? Zero.
I only want to play the things I want to watch, when I want to watch them, with zero ads.
Me? 20.
5 broadcast networks. 5 sports channels. 9 movie channels. And Comedy Central.

@MollyMcGuire :: Yes I steal it. But not really steal.
I pay for Netflix and Direct TV Now. But I only pay for netflix because they make some good stuff and I am happy to pay 12 a month to support that. And I pay for Direct TV Now mostly for the news. Torrents aren’t great for the news. So I would say I pay for around 80% of the stuff I watch but I just don’t use their services to watch it.
I watch a lot of UK and Australia stuff and I would pay to watch it but they won’t let me.
So I pirate everything and that goes into Plex and I can watch whatever I want whenever I want without commercials.
It looks like this on my end.

And then if I pick TV on the left I get a list.

I watch a lot of TV. Might as well toss in some library stats.

Oh.. I do steal the fuck out of movies. But I justify that because I worked at a movie theater for three years and had to sell weed on the side to pay my rent. Fuck you Regal.
None, we subscribe to one off the internet and watch the news from the internet.
and that one channel only costs $4.99 Canadian a month.
I pay a £12.12 compulsory TV licence fee in the UK and 75% of what I watch is on BBC. I’ve thought of getting Netflix but I’ll probably hold off for a year or two. I like watching Judge Judy and the occasional programme on PBS but that’s about it.
