In the case of the program "Judge Judy" do you agree with the warning that its contents "aren't suitable for children"?

Asked by yesitszen (1961points) August 11th, 2018

I like the program. It’s informative. Sometimes there are children on the show, even very young children, suing one another (their parents present, of course). Regardless, shouldn’t children be encouraged to watch the show… both for learning right from wrong through others’ mistakes, and for the learning of the law factor.

I.e. if children commiting a crime can be on the show, shouldn’t children be allowed, if not encouraged, to watch it?

Absolutely. Kids should only watch continuous loops of Teletubbies, Bugs Bunny, and Robocop.

The “not suitable for children” warning puzzled me too. Most kids find courtroom programmes boring but I don’t see any need to warn them off.

I disagree. They probably put it because of Judy’s ‘rough and unforgiving’ language. Kids can watch with it just fine without sustaining any psychological problems. Parents these days think their children are made of glasses.

Children are allowed to be children and to present them with adult Court problems is most like making them anxious about there own family dynamic.
They will soon learn the wrong things through media messages continually blaring in there
innocent minds.

It’s probably one of those “cover their ass” type of warnings so they can’t be sued by a PO’d parent due to content. They give a blanket warning so they can say that it’s the parent’s fault for not controlling what their kids watch.

I don’t watch the show because I find that it’s NOT suitable or me!!!

No, I think it’s mainly an attempt to add an air of excitement and hype, or at most to reduce complaints from fools.
