I liked it. Thanks for the link. I will read Ayn Rand now… or later I’m full up on books for now. I put in my wish list. I ordered in Amazon the fountainhead and atlas shrugged. for $32.

Thanks for looking at it @RedDeerGuy1 .

Thanks for posting that. Rand has been a darling of the right since the days of Goldwater. She’s the go-to icon for those of us who would prefer to ignore our conscience, and perfect for those without a conscience to ignore.

@SQUEEKY2 I canceled the books. I can get them for free in library. Ayn Rand would approve.

Thanks for taking the time @stanleybmanly .

Reich preaches to the choir when he talks to me. Have you seen his video on monopolies and the cessation of enforcement of the antitrust laws?

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Not yet, but I do like his videos ,and will let you know when I do.

@SQUEEKY2 Thanks for the link above. Was awesome. Robert Reich has a calming voice like Mr. Rogers.

He has a way of calmly explaining things and making it easy to understand.
A lot of right wingers don’t like him.

It seems quite accurate to me.

My opinion of the video as an opinion piece….it was interesting. I assume it could be enlightening to those who don’t read Ayn, who is a fabulous writer, even if I disagree with some of her politics.

I agree with most of what is said in the video but I think Hillel put it best: “If I’m not for myself, who will be for me? And if I’m only for myself, what am I?”

I’m not sure exactly how I feel about that piece; but,it did give me a LOT to think about!!! I’ve not read any of Rand’s work; but know that many people used to recommend The Fountainhead as the ONLY book you needed to read in order to become a smart adult. Reading causes me to instantly fall asleep so I never read it. Now, I’m wondering exactly what it is that I missed??? In the last 2 weeks The Fountainhead has been recommended from both sides of the spectrum & I want to know for myself!!!

Actually, I prefer Reich’s thoughts on Common Ground. I’ll be watching that one again & will probably be checking out more of his ideas. I don’t care for either political party that we have & often wonder why nobody can come up with at least 1 or 2 more parties???

@SQUEEKY2 The book, Atlas shrugged , was 1100 pages! I signed out the three part video dvd from my local library.

THANKS @RedDeerGuy1…I’ll NEVER make it through 1100 pages without going into a coma; so I think I’ll follow your lead!!!

I’m aware of her and her ideas but I’ve never read her and won’t. Her ideas are anethema to me.

Thanks for posting this. I admire Reich very much.
