Were you impressed with the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman's acting?

Asked by Aster (20028points) August 23rd, 2018

I thought he was sensational and headed for an Oscar had he lived. He was so fantastic in “Capote.” Did y’all see that movie? I’m addicted to it. Just watching him is spellbinding.

Hoffman was my favorite actor. Absolutely loved him as Capote, and he was incredible in The Master and Almost Famous. I also really enjoyed seeing him as the villain in Mission: Impossible III

@ragingloli

He played a role in The Big Lebowski.

I thought the first two Hunger Games films were genuinely good, especially the second one.

I, too, am a fan of Hoffman!!! Truman Capote himself couldn’t have played the part as well as Hoffman did!!! Tonight I watched the Robin Williams movie Patch Adams. Hoffman played the ass in this movie & he did it with as much passion as he did playing Capote.

My Mom always told me that the sign of a good actor was when they were capable of making you HATE them when playing the bad guy role as they were of making you LOVE them in the good guy role. Hoffman ALWAYS accomplished that!!! I cannot remember a part that he played that I wasn’t captivated by his acting!!! He died waaayyy too soon!!!

I need to see the Hunger Games movies! Have no idea if I’d like the movies but Hoffman acting in them might make it worthwhile.

I like it when I see actors who started out in bit roles to supporting roles make it big in Hollywood especially because they were gifted performers.

And also because they worked hard getting to the level every Hollywood dreamer wanted to be.

I knew their faces before their names registered…Paul Giamatti, Hoffman and seen their breakthrough films. Very good films, top notch performances.

Just sad that Hoffman wasn’t able to pull it together in the end and the drug that he was able to avoid taking for years finally took him.
